Does anyone know why MK was open an hour longer today?

Today (9/30) Magic Kingdom was supposed to operate 9-9 pm today. The signs at the parking gates and MK times guide brochures even had those hours posted. In the afternoon, the sign at the MK entrance had 9-10 pm. It was even confirmed at MDE park hours page to confirm the hours. Does anyone know when & why they changed hours. It was nice riding 3 additional attractions after Wishes with no wait, but it seems like I didn't even know about it until the pm to my surprise. Is it to alleviate traffic after Wishes?

It's not unusual for Disney to extend the park hours when attendance warrants it.
