does anyone know where the closest walk in clinic to US is?

Long story (sorry) but DS has been having a bad year health wise this year. The latest fiasco is he had strep-throat , had an allergic reaction to the meds at the end of treatment so they tested him - it was gone so they took him off the meds, and now has strep again. My older DS had strep 4-5 times in a row when he was just about the same age as young DS now so now I have this fear that young DS will keep getting it. As the doc explained it the meds will be leaving his system just as we leave for the trip so now I am paranoid that he will get sick while on vacation. Doc says it's highly unlikely but highly unlikely seems to happen to this family all the time! So I just figured if I am prepared and find out where the closest walk in clinic is he won't get sick but if I am not prepared he will. That's the way things usually seem to go. So just to be safe I am hoping someone would know the name of the place so I can mapquest it and have directions in hand. Then he would be very highly unlikely to get sick again and if he does I know where to go. Sorry so long - hope someone out there knows. Thanks!

We had an accident once at the Terminator that required stitches and Universal took us to the closest walk-in (I think it was Kirkman). There was only one doctor and it took quite a while to be seen. That said, my son works at the hospital here and went to the emergency last night after work (10 pm) and it took 3 hours to see a doctor.

I had an infection once right before a trip and the doctor (without me asking) thought about it for a minute after I told him of our upcoming trip and wrote me a "just in case" prescription. I needed it our first full day there and we just asked the guys at valet for directions. They gave us a map and showed us the best way to get to the closest Walgreens. This was at Disney at WL.

Any way you can just ask your doc back home for a "just in case" prescription?

It was so nice not to have to find a clinic and wait to be seen.

When DS fell off a bench at the Contemporary Resort and busted his lip open The paramedic that checked him out sent us to After Hours Pediatrics. It was about 8:30 PM when he had his mishap. It was in 2004, so I do not remember which location we went to, but it was not far at all. I do recall that there was a CVS or Walgreens or something similar on the corner which was convenient, cause he had an ear infection too! UGH! I felt so horrible for the little guy.

Unfortunately, I'm up close and personal with the medical folks in Orlando...

My son got sick at USf when he was about 8 and we went to the first aid area near Pastamore. The paramedics were awesome! They diagnosed my son with "overexcited and eating too much stuff and being turned upside down too many times- itis" also known as constipation with a capital C!

When I fell at the dock on my head I was transported to the hospital... STILL DON'T REMEMBER which one but I do remember the Royal Pacific came and got me!

For accidents and illnesses, Universal transports guests to Sand Lake Hospital on Turkey Lake Rd. For minor things where the guests just needs a quick doctor visit, they suggest Centra Care.

Thanks to all. Like I said before, now that I am prepared more than likely he won't get sick while we are there. But it looks pretty easy if he does. I don't know how poeple plan a vacation with you guys. Thanks again!

I highly recommend After Hour Pediatrics. We were sent there when my daughter got an ear infection while we were staying at Disney. Great staff and she was seen quite quickly. It was bright and very kid friendly.

3 hours at the Naples Hospital!!! Next time we need an ER, I am driving down!!! About a month ago, I had to take my DD to the ER in the Cape & it was a 6 hour wait! On Monday my other DD's boyfriend totaled his car & his wait on the "fast track" at the ER was nearly 4 hours Had he been taken in my an ambulance (he hit the windsheild in the car), he would have been seen asap, he declined ambulance & his mom drove him..

now back to the post... I know there is a hospital on SandLake. I didn't realize that there was a walk in close to Universal. That is good to remember!

I had to take DD to Centracare, on Vineland Road, last year, for an ear infection, and we had a 2 hour wait

Got us sorted out in the end though so we were happy - only thing I'd have done differently was take our own prescription to the pharmacy, rather than wait for the clinic to dispense

Last year my oldest DD ended up with a urinary tract infection. The local walk-in was closed so they sent us to Sand Lake Hospital. We had a rental car and it was maybe, 15 minutes away. Of course, we walked into the ER and it was packed. But luckily, they have a "fast track" program and we probably were done in about 1 1/2 hours - not bad for the ER! They directed us to the local Walgreens and we were on our way.
