For wording on an invitation to the dance only. I'm just finishing up my brother's wedding invitations, and I'm looking for wording for the cards that will go out to invite people to the dance (not the reception or the ceremony).

If you don't want to hear me vent, don't read any further....... :p

I've been working on making 170 invitations for their wedding all week (saving them probably $300), and I am about 20 invitations away from being finished (not including cutting the RSVPs and Reception cards apart). I'm pretty sick of measuring, cutting, adhering paper to paper, hooking rings together, and tying bows. I'm not complaining..... I agreed to this, and if I do say so myself, they look pretty nice, but I've already decided that only two people in this world will be getting their wedding invitations handmade by me...... my brother and myself. That's it..... this is not a career option. Anyway, his fiance' called tonight to see how they were going.... she's very nice, and I like her a lot, but she seemed kind of................ maybe, frustrated, and said something to the effect that her mom would like to start getting them out. So, where have you guys been all week while I was cutting and pasting????? The wedding is April 3rd, and the invitations will be done by the end of this week. I wouldn't totally complain, except that I asked a BAZILLION times for wording on this, and wording on that, and all anyone ever does is shrug their shoulders, and say they don't know what it should say.... so I'm left looking up wording, asking Tamie (tkyes) for advice, approving it with them.... blah blah blah........ IF I COULD JUST GET A LITTLE HELP HERE!!!

Okay, vent over...... I have paper to cut and bows to tie. I'm hoping you guys can help with the wording.

THANK YOU!!!

Can't help you with the wording, sorry! Too bad your brother and future SIL can't tell you what wording they would like.

You are very generous with your time on this type of a project. I have done a lot of stamping of cards, including doing 150 or so X-mas cards for my sister's business contacts, in addition to doing about 70 X-mas cards for my family.

Somewhere along the way, I did do the invites for my niece's wedding shower. They were beautiful - if I do say so myself! I don't think the bride appreciated the work that went into them at all, let alone the expense.

I hope they truly appreciate the amount of work you are doing for them!

Sorry I never heard of a wedding dance? that was not the reception. I'm clueless.

You are nice, I probably would have let her know how much work was involved when she complained.

I've never heard of just having a dance either, but I'm guessing that the reception includes the meal while the dance does not. I'm also guessing that you have small "reception-like" cards that you're wording.

If so, you could say something like:

"Please join (groom's name) and (bride's name) as they share their first dance as a married couple. Festivities will begin at (time)

(name of hall)
(address)"

I'd probably put a short line from their wedding song on a line after the time. Like mine could have said "Like a song of love that clings to me
How the thought of you does things to me."

If I've got it all wrong, let me know...I just love to "word-smith" and I'll try to come up with something else. :D
