No, please do not tell me it is gone... it was a stunning piece of art and I was so looking forward to seeing it in person in January!!

You might want to check out the thread with pictures of the new Magic. There were lots of changes made over dry dock.

Back on the 1st of April, I broke the story of the chilhully being removed from the Magic and stated that it was to be used within the terminal building at PC, and I believe that's not going to happen, everyone on the boards thought it was an April Fool, however there was some truth behind it.

I have been following the changes and photos closely, with no mention of the chihuly...

So, if it's not on the ship, and it's not in the terminal... where the heck is it?! :confused3

Heard a rumor it broke and accidentally crashed during the dry dock. Hope that is not true. :-(

Chihuly sometimes takes apart his large pieces and sells them off - DH and I have looked at them several times because we like his art. Maybe that will happen to this one? There's a retail store in Vegas and they often have a few.

I read a rumor somewhere that it was being returned to Chihuly.

The most logical explanation is that it went back to the artist....but it's no wonder the cost of cruising is so high. Pay a bundle for a piece of artwork, and then give it back.:eek:

:sad2::sad2:

There have been multiple pictures of the atrium posted in several places (including USA Today) showing the new chandeliers.

We were told on a MAGIC tour that it was plastic and that Chihuly worked hard to find a kind of plastic that would give the effect of the glass :goodvibes but not be as heavy or as dangerous if it happened to fall as glass would be shattering all over the atrium. :scared1:

I thought they should make shadow boxes with small pieces of the plastic and a write-up as items for sale or special gifts for Platinum Castaway Club members, but that's just me. :upsidedow

The Children's Museum of Indianapolis has a Chihuly installation called Fireworks and beneath it a play area for children with an armature and plastic shapes that they can arrange to mimic the sculpture.

The three crystal chandeliers shown in pictures on that thread have replaced it.

I know it's been replaced... It's where did it go that I am pondering... As are others... Will it be repurposed? Sold (whole or in pieces)? Returned to Chihuly? Something else?

I don't know for the life of me where I heard this from...but I heard it was going into one of his museums...does he even have museums? It would be nice if it was rather than being destroyed...but I would still love a piece if they "break" it apart

I think I saw his museum or 'studio' on one of the seasons of Top Chef. Some reality show. Project Runway? Anyway, that came into my head. I did find out from a Top Chef Las Vegas episode that his work is in the Mirage lobby too.

Also at Bellagio..that was where I first saw his work.

Then there's Chihuly Garden and Glass near the Space Needle in Seattle.
