I know they board on Song by certain zones. Does anyone know what the zones are and what rows are included in each? Thanks!!!:wave2:

(copied from another forum)

Subject to change but early this year the Song boarding zones were:

1 -- Rows 1-4 and rows 11-13 (generally reserved for "elite" or "medallion" or "gold" members)
2 -- Rows 5-8 and also 10
3 -- Window seats in rows 14 and back
4 -- Middle seats in rows 14 and back
5 -- Aisle seats in rows 14 and back
6 -- Row 9 (didn't make sense to me until someone mentioned taht people sitting in these seats increase congestion coming in the door.)

In additon, the aisle seats don't have much under-seat baggage space due to the placement of the seat struts.

I flew Song a few weeks ago, and Zone 1 was rows 1-8 plus a few other rows; unfortunately, I don't remember the others, because I was in row 2 and only noticed my info. I was just an ordinary passenger, no special class or membership; row 2 was fabulous because I was one of the first on and first off. When they board (at least at LAX and Tampa), they use a door between rows 8 and 9, so most people getting on turned right, but I turned left and had few crowds to contend with. Getting off, they use a door ahead of row 1, so I was the second row off!

I was in an aisle seat both ways, and although the underseat space ahead of me was slightly less in width (maybe 2" narrower), it wasn't significant; also, because I boarded so quickly, I had no problem getting my carryon overhead, so it made no difference at all.

I've always been in one of the groups that board together. But, for my next two trips, we are in row 15. If they board that row by seats, what happens to my group of 3? Can we all board together? I just can't imagine my 10 y/o dd, in the window seat being boarded first, then a group later me, then the next group my dh!! Man, this is what happens when Song changes flight numbers and you don't get back your original seats!! I really loved 2 DEF!!

We flew Song in April. They boarded by rows, front to back, but did not break up rows by window, aisle etc. That sounds like an experiment that was wisely abandoned. We were in row 15 and I think that was either zone 2 or zone 3. You should be fine boarding together.

Just beacause they announce your zone, you don't have to get in line right away to sit on the hot stuffy plane for a long time. I personally don't use the overheads so I am always one of the last people on the plane. I can relax in the nice cool airport and not wait in line to have someone trying to squeeze a bag into a space that it obviously will not fit in. If you have assigned seats, noone can take those seats from you, so you can just wait until the person with the lowest zone number is called and all board together.
