While Sheraton Safari is close its not walking distance in my opinion..the closest would be the Wyndham Palace, the Hilton and the Grovsenor - the rest are also walking distance but a longer walk!

Sheratons Safaris is not a good one for walking to anything - very busy street.

now they were working on sidewalks - if they have been installed then possible it might be better - but you are talking about a long walk.

We rented a car for one day at the Holiday Inn, after we dropped it off we walked over to DTD. It was not too bad of a walk, there were traffic signals. It was just my sister and I, but I think that if you had young children it would be a bit far to walk.

We stayed for the second time at the Hotel Royal Plaza at DTD and highly recommend it. It is almost right across the street from DTD and is an easy walk but there is also a bus. The bus makes alot of stops along the way but if you have little ones it might be easier than walking. The Royal Plaza has a great pool and wonderful staff. There seems to be a moisture problem in the rooms by the pool but not in the tower rooms(which is where we stayed)

I agree with previous post, Royal Plaza is easy walking distance to DTD, plus it is also same distance the other way to Crossroads, loads of restaurants, shops & grocery store. When we stayed there we walked to both areas allthe time, it was great not having to worry about drinking that extra beer & then have to drive. Wyndham Palace is right across the road to DTD, nicer hotel than Plaza, but probably pricier too. Good luck.

I've stayed at both the Wyndham and the Hilton and both are in walking distance. I used priceline.com and got the room for $50 a night in both instances. Good luck and have fun.

Did they consider that a 3-star or 3 and a half?

The Wyndham is considered a Resort level. I won this hotel on Priceline for our trip in a couple weeks. $63 a ngiht on Priceline.
