I have done the DDP before and every time I order a meal I am asked if I am on the dining plan. Do you get lest food, no as good service what coudl the reason be?
TIA :santa:

That's only so the server can explain what you are and are not entitled to while on the dining plan. So if you ordered an appetizer, the server can remind you that's not covered under the plan. Or if you didn't order dessert, the server can remind you that is covered under the plan.

Having the dining plan doesn't make your service and better or worse and your food portions are the same size and anyone else's.

In the past, some dining plan participants were afraid that their service was not up to par because the gratuity was automatically included so why should the server work any harder because they already knew what their tip would be.

A very good example of this is dining at the Biergarten. Eight people, some on the plan. Our server worked just as hard for them as they did for us. Same with the Japanese habachi place. We were the only two NOT on the plan. Didn't see any difference at all.

I have wondered the same thing. WHY do they need to know before they serve me?? Can't they just bring the check, and then I give them the card instead of credit/cash?

It seems kinda seedy to me- maybe a CM on here can explain this.

It is so the wait staff can sneeze on your burgers and stick their dirty thumbs into your soup and drinks. They also lick the rims of your glasses.

KIDDING

I thought it was (1) to explain what is covered and what is not, and (2) maybe it had something to do with how they enter the information about your rder into the register/computer (maybe they have to pre-set the information to DDP versus OOP).

The better/worse service issue is the reason why they took the tip off of DDP. Now, even though you have to tell them up front that you have the plan, the tip will depend on their service.

I'm not a Cast Member but I can imagine someone getting the check after the meal and thinking the entire meal was covered. So they ordered an appetizer, mixed drinks and thought they would pay nothing (not even the gratuity). Joe Vacation goes ballistic (he had two mixed drinks) and causes a scene. Which would probably make Disney comp everything to get him calmed down.

It's a CYA thing.

yep, along with ordering it also has to do with how they ring it up. They need to ring you up as dining plan customers from the beginning.

Also, there are different dining plans, so they have to figure out what you get with your plan.
