I want to create my own wedding programs but I really have no idea. Do you know of any good online tutorials that could steer me in the right direction? As a beginner, I need the basics in pretty specific detail.

I bought beautiful card stock, but beyond that I am not sure what to do.

People have talked about using Illustrator, Publisher, etc. and I have none of them. What software can I use? Or should I buy one of those two?

Any advice for setting up the pages?

Should I get one of those "guillotine" style paper cutters?

I haven't even started and I'm already wishing I had just had my invitation designer make them, too!

a small regular paper cutter will work just fine (Hobby Lobby sells one by Provo Craft for $10, and I love it)

I'm going to use my mac and use pages, but you can also use word. I'm going to set a title and then type out all the other information in a regular font. and trial and error until I'm happy with it. Then I plan on printing it, matting it on the cardstock and layering with clear vellum and ribbon.

I don't have any fancy programs either, but I've found that with Paint and Word, I can accomplish most things!:)

There's a free Avery teplate maker online that has been very helpful.

Or in word when you click "new" there are tons of templates that you can personalize with your own pics, logos, monograms (word art) and fonts!

Sometimes it's a pain in the tush to line up the paper and the text and then cut everything out, but it really can save you a bit if you have the supplies.

However, if you don't plan on using the paper cutter over again, one of those kits (avail at craft stores usually 40-50% off with a coupon) can be a good alternative.

Also- instead of buying the paper cutter, there is always one avail to use at the Staples I go to...? and another way to save is to turn in ink cartridges at Staples and they give you rewards back for each one (3.00ea with a max of 10 cartridges in the period)

Good Luck!

LuLu- what size is your cardstock? Did you see my programs? I did them on my printer and my invites too. I have a program that worked really well on my computer. Take a picture of your cardstock and maybe I can come up with a few ideas for you.

Thanks so much- my cardstock is pre-scored A7 size (prob about 7 by 10, when folded it is 5 width, 7 length) I will also need to insert regular paper to fill the pages, too.

I ran it through my printer today as an experiment and I will need to figure out how to set it up, but the ink doesn't smudge on the shimmer paper which is what I was worried about.

If I wait till Sept. I can use the paper cutter at work/school.

Thanks, Daniella, I'll PM you. :)
