Does anyone know much about Plasma TVs?

I've just bought a plasma TV and it keeps making a hissing sound Its only plugged into the cable box and no other electrical equipment, every couple of minutes it hisses for a few seconds and we can't figure out why. We tried plugging it into the DVD player and it does exactly the same. It has a sounds test on it and the sound is fine during that so wondering if its not a fault but is something we are doing. Any advice greatly appreciated!

That doesn't sound right, I've never had that with any of our plasma's.

I would speak to/return it to where you got it from.

I don't know what make it is but we have 2 Panasonic plasmas and none of them hiss. I think plasmas do degass themselves when you switch them on, that doesn't sound quite right. Go onto AVForums and ask the question there, there are loads of people who know what they are talking about.

I think it sounds like a fault, have you googled the make and hissing noise as that may bring up other sets with the same fault.

It had a faulty scart socket so we exchanged it the next day and now have one that works perfectly Thanks for the advice tho
