Does anyone know if the henna tattoo is safe during pregnancy?

I'm really looking forward to this, has anyone been told not to while pregnant? It's a vegetable dye, so i'm not too concerned, except that it seems to soak into the skin

Congratulations on your pending addition!

My advice is to ask your doctor or nurse practioner. Even if everyone here said it was safe, IMHO, you just can't be too careful when it comes to your baby. Get your answer from those with the best credibility.

Best wishes -

I agree...ask your doctor first. I just had to add that I did see one "A Baby Story" where the pregnant mom got henna done on her belly.

Just a word of warning - make sure you get it done at a reputable place and that the 'Henna' they put on is brown and not black.

There was a news article here in the UK the other day about a man who got badly burned from a henna tattoo, as the stuff they put on was black and apparently this contains chemicals that can cause reactions or burn the skin. He was on holiday when he got this done - sorry can't remember where.

Sebastian.
