Does anyone know how the Nick Hotel renovations are progressing?

The last thing that I heard was the renovations were supposed to be completed in May. DH stopped at the hotel several months ago and said that it was far from complete!

I gonna bump this because I am curious to know, also. I have ressies for the 2nd week of May and the last I heard it was far from done.

We just got home today from Orlando :( and went to visit friends at the Nick Jr hotel on Wednesday (March 2). It was very much under construction. They were in bldg 10 and had about a 10 minute complicated walk to the finished pool. Definitely ask for bldg 1,2 or 3 if you are traveling in the next few months. They are located right beside the pool. The colour scheme is very ugly IMHO. Lime green and orange - uggh. The rooms are cute - I only saw the two bedroom unit. They are much smaller than I anticipated but the family we visited really like theirs. They were under the impression they would have a kitchen but only had a microwave and mini fridge. The pool near bldg 10 is going to be huge and looks like it will be ready in time. The water slides are much bigger than the other pools.
You can't be the location. It is right on SR536 - you just turn left and you are on the highway to Disney!
I can get some more specific questions answered if you like. By the Way the character breakfast does not start until May but they had character greetings every day in the lobby from 3-6pm. The buffet breakfast is included in the rate until May.

Thanks so much, Talicskai. We're going towards the end of June. So, it's the large pool that isn't complete. I had misread some threads, so I thought they were still working on the smaller pool.

I agree with you about the color scheme, but my son thinks it's just wonderful. He has begged and cajoled us into booking several days at the Nick Hotel. But, at $189.00 a night, I want the hotel and large pool finished.

You said the two room suite was smaller than you expected. I had envisioned it to be a little larger than the average deluxe room. Am I way off base?

If you combine all three rooms then it is bigger than the average deluxe room, but because it is chopped up into three small rooms I felt crowded. Mind you ~ when we stopped to visit our friends ~ there were 9 of us in there. The kids room was very cute - the master bedroom was fine - but the "sitting room" with the couch and chair felt very small. The TV unit looked like a bakers rack in a kitchen rather than an armoire or solid piece of furniture. We were at Vistana Villages and I would not trade what we had for the Nick Hotel but our kids would have loved to have that pool. I think by the end of June things will be much more organized and should be complete. I would not pay $189 per night right now until everything is done. Let me know if you need anything else. I can email my friend - they just got back yesterday :cold:

We're right with you Goofyin NY. Kids can't wait to try the Nick Hotel. I told DH, just wear your sunglasses all the time and we shoud be fine. Of course the kids like tack, so orange and lime green are right up their alley. It does sound like it's going to be a really "fun" place for kids though. We're doing two nights there and then heading for the Grand FLoridian. Quite a difference, but I'm hoping we'll enjoy both.

I just received this today by email from the hotel:
One of our pools is open which is the Oasis pool, the Lagoon pool is scheduled to open the week of your stay(April 15th). Our food outlets are in the process of being renovated now but we do have options of food that you will still be able to get in our new Mall area that opened just a few days ago

I had emailed them a few weeks ago asking the status of their construction. My fingers are crossed that both pools will be open when we're there. We're only staying one night, but still, it's a lot of money to spend if things aren't ready.

Gfolchick, I've got my fingers crossed for you. I hope the Lagoon pool is open for your stay and that everything is close to complete. It's a lot of money and I know my son expects it to look like the website. Seven-year-olds are not very understanding about those things!

Just wanted you all to know I just got off the phone with the Nick Hotel - we are planning on staying there for two nights, then on to Disney POR in MAy - 5/19 - 5/21. I got a rate of $148 using MOUSESAVERS rate request. That included FREE brkfst lunch and dinner for up to 4 kids with paying adult. GREAT RATE!!
The very nice young lady told me all major renovations are planned to be done by May with only cosmetic touches and such scheduled for May. POOLS will be open and complete!

YAY! - now i am wondering - will my kids WANT to leave?
