Does anyone know David's Disney DVC Rental Site?

If you google Davids DVC rentals this thread comes up.

The way I read it the three way call is between Member Services, the renter, and David. He would have to have access to your account.

In his opening paragraph he states that he is a DVC member and an Associate Member on other DVC accounts.

I think the OP was right and that you have to make him an Associate Member.

I'm not saying that he isn't legit, just not something I would do. Of course, I too never have any extra points to worry about.

I would put him as an Associate. :rotfl2: Right after he give's me a $15000 deposit on account.:rotfl:

I just looked at the site.
I have a question, He is obviously not doing this for free.
Would this not be against DVC rules as in making renting points a business.

Even though most of these "brokers" are probabaly experienced and honest, I wouldn't give ANYONE asociate access on my account. And this is how they work- they have to have access to your account to make the ressies with your points so they'd have to know your membership #, mailing address, and last 4 of your social. I would never give this kind of info or access to anyone even a family member much less a stranger, however reputable that starnger would be. There is just way to much at risk.

Well, the catch is that they are not HIS points that he is renting. :)
(Yes, I was being somewhat sarcastic...)
But I agree with what you said - he is not doing this just to be a nice person. He is going to make something off the top.

Is there a difference between an associate and a co-owner? If they are one and the same that would give them legal ownership and you could not sell your contract without their signature.

Yes, a co-owner is listed on the deed...an associate can be revoked at any time. Associates are simply someone you designate to "manage" your DVC account. They can make reservations, cancel reservations, bank, borrow, transfer, etc. Associates, though, do not own the account and are not legally responsible for the dues. Nor can they sell your contract.

If you don't want to hassle with renters, find a member who wants your transferred points. You do this once, and you're done. It would be a lot less work than setting someone up to "manage" extra points for you.

As I see it he charges $14 a point and probably pays you $10 a point thus resulting in a net profit of $4 a point for him. If the reservation took 96 points he would make a profit of $384. I believe that he is a broker for DVC points for DVC members just like a broker sells sports tickets etc for ticket holders be it sports, concerts etc.

This whole idea smells like yesterday's old fish wrapper!

 Aw, c'mon... That's not nice.

If I'm walking around with something black in my teeth I hope you would tell me. Even if you may not feel it's a "nice" thing to say. I might be embarrassed for a moment, but then I would realize you were willing to suffer slight discomfort to help me out.

I actually cancelled the post, then went back and finally did. Even pausing before I hit the "submit" button.

My intent was not to embarrass, but to make a blunt warning. I have been suckered myself and have learned the hard way. I saved my sister from a complete rip off once.

I don't think of the OP as stupid or dense. Sometimes something can look slick and great. As I said, I've been there and 'felt stupid' myself.

But the condition of requiring addition as an associate on the contract made bells and whistles go off in my head. Don't you have the same reaction to that?

I would be willing to withdraw the post if it causes more harm than good.

Anyway, I'm chicken about renting my points, too. Good luck to the OP.

I can't actually believe that he gets people to list him as an associate, that just floors me:scared1:

OP.

Better to ask then find out the hard way. My 2 cents.

There is no way in hell I would list anyone as an associate under these circumstances.

I know what you mean, but it looks like people do.

It's also a HUGE RED FLAG to DVC. Can't imagine he really does this.

Can't be too big of a red flag or the site would not be there. Unless Disney does not know about it yet.
As I previously said, This sure looks like it would be against DVC rules about renting as a business for profit.

NO WAY would I do this!

1st of all, it's no tthat difficult to rent the points on your own. I occassionally do it and get $12 per point. Therefore, I am getting more money in my pocket and am not having to get into a risky situation. :scared:

There are planty of DVC owners who can advise you as to how you can rent your excess points on your own, sample contracts etc. It's ultimately your decision, but I would highly advise against getting a stranger involved. :cool2:

Call me an idiot, but I've used him to rent out some of my points and had no problems...

No one should ever call you an idiot. Maybe more of a risk taker than many of us, but at the end of the day it's up to each of us to decide what is okay and what might be requiring more trust than we're willing to give in the situation.

Apparently a lot of people do.
According to his site he has over 2200 points available.
