I asked my nieces what they want for Christmas and they both said Bratz dolls. Since DD is only 2, I'm not really familiar with these. Does anyone know what they are and where I could buy them from? Thanks for any info!

You can find them everywhere, target, walmart, kmart, etc . They are fashion dolls and they have tons of accesories to go with them. My kids are going nuts with them.
Just look on the toys sections.
These are just some of the dolls:

Yes, you can find them anywhere. But I won't buy them for my daughter. I don't like the way they look, the image they portray or even the NAME!! I do realize that girls are really into them right now, but at least for now, I've said NO to BRATZ!

They are even at Sam's Club now! I think they're fashionably cute. My niece loves them & I got her 2 last Christmas.

My younger sister LOVES these things, so I'm familiar with them.

Toys R Us is often sold out of them. We've had the best luck finding them at Target. The Bratz limo was at Target before it was officially released in stores.

The Bratz are "the girls with a passion for fashion". While their makeup is a bit exaggerated (might say trashy), the dolls are almost like chararictures. Big heads, small body, waist, long legs, huge feet.

They are cute. They come with these detailed outfits and SO many accessories. While their names are "The Bratz", the only message that the dolls send is to go shopping, lol. The outfits are very cute and in tune with the current styles.

They even have Bratz Boys, who are equally detailed! Personally, I think they're adoreable.

You can buy them anywhere but I would recommend asking their mother if it's ok for them to have these dolls. I know if my daughter got one it would very quickly become "lost".

Thank goodness it's not just me. I hesitate to get a doll that is proudly labeled a brat--and they are pretty ugly to boot. DD#2 (8) has one that was a gift but has way more Barbies and her American Girl as well that I'd much rather she play with. These dolls remind me of the HS girl students I have that try to look like the ghetto type of style.

I was expecting to see a "pretty" doll, but these dolls aren't very pretty, are they?

DD (6) has 2 of these dolls and loves them. The only aspect I like is the hair and feet. The feet are actually feet with the shoes already painted on. They are much easier to get on and off than barbie shoes.

The makeup is exaggerated and looks "hookerish". I don't think my DD having these dolls is distorting her image of what young girls are supposed to look like.

I have control in my home and DD is a great little girl.

I also am not a huge fan of Bratz but I know they are very popular (and can get very spendy) I much prefer the Barbie version called My Scene (which are cuter and cheaper)

If you are going to get Bratz and need a specific one be warned that Chloe (the blond one) comes usually 1 to a box soo sometimes is harder to find.

For the scary portion I think the new Mattel dolls called Flavas are the worst (Very Ghettoish) and not something I would want my kids playing with...

Can you tell I am a Toy Associate at Walmart??? :)

ITA. My DD has 3 or 4 of them, and she loves them.

***ETA DS loves to play with them as well.

LOL

My DS (2) loves playing dolls with his sissy too!:D DD has asked for one of Prom Bratz dolls. I also saw in the Target ads this past weekend that Bratz has a really neat looking carry case. I gotta start my Christmas shopping!

Think of how useful they could be as a teaching tool in the areas of human sexuality and morality...I could use them to demonstrate to DS(12) the type of girl that he shouldn't bring home to mom...after all, they're so lifelike!;)

and then, after he brought one home anyway, you could use it as a VooDoo doll. :p

my two teenage nieces love these. I think they are ugly, but then I dont have to play with them. LOL

I too think that these dolls are not the best looking and did not care for the name when DD (9) first asked for them last Christmas.

Well, needless to say my house is now invaded by them. But I do have to give the makers of these dolls a big thumbs up for the fact that their hair looks as good as the day it came out of the box.

I would have to say that my one big grip with Barbie (besides shoes never stay on) is that the hair on them looks like a rats nest within days of playing with them. My younger daughter who is only 5 is not gonna keep these dolls in perfect shape brushing their hair every 10 seconds. The Bratz dolls hair stays great and not one of my girls dolls has hair that is messy.

I also think that the clothes is easier for my younger one to get on. My DD's have both the full size and lil bratz and they love them. Some we even have 2 of because the makeup is different in some of the versions. I've already been told that they will be putting the prom versions on their list for Santa and they both want the mall for the lil bratz (already bought this) and the new limo. DD (9) wants the new telephone for her room too!

I would check with the parents and see if they mind, but I think even for the price difference your getting a doll that will last longer.

And we could get our sons that country song, "I Like My Women A Little on the Trashy Side".
