we have two spare days one is going to watch a baseball game and some of us are going to chill. Then one other spare day with nothing to do. I have never done the "hollywood sign" thing or a tour of the area. is there a particular tour that is really great that anyone knows of.

We just got back two days ago. We stayed for a week, doing 4 days at DLR, 1 at Sea World, 1 at the beaches, and 1 in Hollywood/LA. We book our Hollywood/LA tour through anaheim 411. Tom is the owner and he was our tour guide too. We enjoyed our Hollywood tour so much, we booked with him for the OC Beaches tour too, a couple of days later. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Those 2 days ended up being our favorites of the whole trip!

Thanks for that information. how long was the tour and what did you see on the hollywood one? I wish we had time to do a beach one too. How do you get a hold of this company.

We did the Grayline Hop-on/Hop-off Tour for a full day last time. We started at the Santa monica Pier stop and did that loop and one other main loop. The only place we hoped off was The Farmer's Market/Grove stop for lunch.

This time we are going to do the TMZ Bus Tour.

I just got back as well, and we did "A Day In LA Tours" which was awesome! We went all over, did Griffith Park, Santa Monica, Malibu, Beverly Hills/Rodeo Dr, lunch stop at the Grove/Farmer's Market, Hollywood Blvd (Chinese Theater) and drove through great places and heard great stories.....it was all of those places that should take 30 minutes each but we would waste time reading maps and parking all day if we did it on our own.....it was a great tour and Aaron is a great guide!

I personally would not recommend Anaheim 411 for your tour. My husband and I went in February to California and had a tour booked through this company. It was very difficult to have any type of communication with him and we did not receive our tickets until the night before we were supposed to go on a tour. We showed up in our hotel lobby at the specified time and when he failed to show up on time we began calling him to see when he would arrive. After an hour of waiting with no response from him, it became apparent he was not coming. After 5 days we did hear from him and he acknowledged that he did not plan on coming to pick us up that day and that our money would be refunded. We had to rearrange our week and we booked through Starline for another tour. The tour through Starline was great and we highly recommend it.

Depending on your budget, Adventures by Disney is now offering a 1-day tour of Hollywood and the Disney Studios in Burbank, with lunch at the Farmer's Market. It leaves from the Grand Californian. You can find more information on the Disney site: http://disneyland.disney.go.com/special-offers/lights-camera-magic-adventures/

As far as I know, this is one of the only ways to see the actual Disney Studios. We were looking at doing a Warner Brothers VIP tour, but decided our 10yo DD would be more excited to see the Disney backlot instead - since she isn't familiar with anything on the WB tour! :rotfl: We've been debating other ABD trips, and figured this was a quick way to see if their style of touring would suit us!

Thanks so much for this info! We have a day in LA tours booked for July 14! So glad to hear you had a good time. All the reviews I have read so far are good. :thumbsup2

Hmmm, I'm very surprised to hear this. We had such a good experience with Anaheim 411 on BOTH of our tours.

The LA/Hollywood day began when he picked us up from our hotel (Disneyland Hotel). He was RIGHT on time. We were the only 3 booked for that day, and still he did not cancel but gave us a "private" tour. We went to UCLA, Beverly Hills where we saw many movie star homes (we got out at some and took our pic right in front of them), we went up into the Hollywood Hills and got some great pics of us with the Hollywood sign behind us. We parked on Rode Dr. and walked all around, with him leading us. We even went INTO the Beverly Wishire (he slipped the doorman some money) and we used the amazing restrooms there, and took a picture of us in the lobby. We even saw Montel Williams dining on the patio there! I snuck a picture. :)

Next, we went to the walk of Stars and Graumann's Theater, Kodak Theater, etc.

Then we went to lunch on the Sunset Strip at a train car named Carny's where apparently the Beckhams dine weekly. It was delicious and cheap! Following that, he took us to the Warner Bros studio and helped us purchase our tickets. He waited for us for 2 1/2 hours while we enjoyed the tours and was there to pick us up promptly at the end.

Following that, he took us to The Hollywood Bowl, the Greystone Manor, where we walked all around on the grounds where many movies have been filmed, and then we went to downtown LA. Again, he slipped money to doormen at two different hotels which allowed us to park in the drive and explore the hotels and amazing views.

It truly was a GREAT day. Because of this great day, we decided on the Beaches tour a couple of days later. I called their company number, but waited until the night before and they told me they were "booked". When I mentioned that we had been on the tour with Tom a couple of days prior, the lady on the phone said, "Oh, well just a minute, let me talk to him then." She came back on and said he would add another bus for us! Again, it ended up being just the 3 of us and we had another great day.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience, but that was certainly not the case with us.:thumbsup2

Is "A Day In LA Tours" the one you can add on to your DLR package reservation? Or is it a separate tour? How do you contact them/make a reservation?

Has anyone ever done the LA/Hollywood Experience through Gray Line tours? I'm considering this for my upcoming trip. I'm confused tho. They state on their website that you go to either Venice beach or Santa Monica after doing all the city stuff, but it doesnt tell you which one you are going to. Personally I would rather go to Santa Monica but I dont want to pay for my excursion and then find out I am going to Venice Beach. I am not sure when they give you that option to choose.

My wife would tell you to do the TMZ tour :)
