We are off in a couple of days and have no definite plans other than our PS's..... (2)! Last year we did the same - just played it by ear whatever my dd wanted to see....
Am I the only one who doesn't plan out an itinerary?????

We wing it every trip but we go quite often so we take the "if we miss it this time there's always the next time" mentality. We have our PS' for which I am truly grateful, because it's getting harder to find a sit down restaurant for dinner.

We've just recently started making PS. Other than that, we decide which park are going to in the morning and for the nighttime shows and that's all we plan.

Every Saturday when I go to one of the parks.

We wing it too. We'll always be back in a year or two. And if we aren't, oh well! I can't stand being held to an itinerary on vacation. It amazes me the amount of detail some people put in these things, do they really stick to them?

I don't have a detailed itinerary but I know which park we will be in on which day and what time Wishes, Fantasmic, SpectroMagic, etc. will be. I wish sometimes I could just get up and decide where to go for the day but we did that on the first trip and there were so many things we missed. We see a lot more this way although I don't plan in as much detail as some people do and we only had 2 PS's booked. Plus I have to admit planning is a big part of the fun for me.

I read it here on the DIS that during the busy times it's best to have at least 1 PS booked per day
we're going Aug for 14nights

My family always wings it when we go. We wake up and wherever we feel like going we do that. If we don't feel like going anywhere then we just swim in the hotel all day. Our family doesn't consider it a vacation if everything is planned. Relaxing and going with the flow is the way we like our vacations.

We sort of wing it...We eat most of our meals in our villa...so no need for PS's I do have 2 PS for our Easter trip. I know which parks have EMH or evening hours...but at this time I'm not sure which parks we will actually end up in and because we don't have PS's it really doens't matter

I'm so glad to hear this! We have 3 PSs booked for a week's visit (next week!) and a rough idea of which park we'll do on which day but that's the most I can handle planning in advance - I don't think DH and DD would appreciate me acting as drill sargeant, either, lol. But that's just us, and this is our first trip, so it's all new to us!

Yes, we usually just wing it. I am not big into making elaborate plans for PS either. I usually alot some time to do some activities that we really love and the rest of the time we wing it. We do make a point of hitting any new attractions.

We have an itnerary for eating :teeth: We also track the lightest days, but other than that...free as a bird :earsboy:

We pretty much wing it and haven't had a bad trip yet! :)

I remember a humorous answer to this question:
"Yes, those are the people who are looking at long lines for everything, who just missed the parade and who didn't know that Splash, Space & Big Thunder Mountains were all down for rehab." ;)

I happen to think that there's a happy medium between "Disney Commando" and "play it by ear". I want to know what park hours are and which parks are AM/PM EMH. I also want to know about any special events; for example, I just realized a few days ago that our May Anniversary trip will be during the Flower & Garden Show, and there things there - concerts, etc. - that we'll want to attend. But I have given up the UG Touring Plans (which are wonderful for those who are strapped for time, or are relative newbies), and the itineraries that have our GPS coordinates planned at 10 minute intervals. :rotfl2:

Just like several other fine minds above have said, we too have developed a "there's always next time" attitude - helped in no small part by our DVC ownership at Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. And regarding PSs - to be honest, DW and I just don't get that big of a thrill out of most WDW restaurants, so we haven't made a PS in years....

Be well!

Play it by ear?

:rotfl2:

I would give myself a stroke on the way down if I didn't have a plan! It's part of the fun for me!

Our first trip, I read one of the guides on how to do it and planned to the minute. My wife almost strangled me after two days. Since then I have gone with the flow, only dictated by the early entry mornings. Now that there are the extra magic hours and night, I don't even feel the need to rush into the parks first thing in the morning. Maybe I'll make a tee time for golf, maybe try to get a PS, might try at the 90 day to get an Illuminations cruise, but if I don't, hey, we're in WDW!!!!!!! :thewave:

The first year we went I actually took index cards with our day planned. That was almost 20 years ago and they still tease me about it. Other than a couple of PS's we are a play it by ear family!!

We have a couple of PS's and will decide which park to vist based on our desires that day and EMH. We are not interested in the parades so the only other info we look for is which ride is not running and what the show times are for certain shows.

I have had trips without planning. I have had trips with planning. From now on - I plan!

We pretty much wing it most of the time now. We have been so often that we sort of "know" how to navigate around whatever comes our way.
