Does anyone hold their arms up on SM?

When I was younger I had hair past my waste. I use to hold my hair down because I was afraid it would get caught in something on SM (the only thing that probably would have happened was annoy people behind me) but I was always scared of my hair be caught on something I didn't have a chance to hold my hands up

Yup! Every time too.

The only coaster I don't is the Matterhorn. I hit my hand on the ceiling at the beginning on the Fantasyland side. I now keep my hands down on that ride.

No way! I also duck and get a kink in my neck because I'm afraid I'm going to whack my forehead on something!

:lmao: I thought I was the only one!!!

I also hold my kids (usually the 5 yo) because I'm scared to death that he will slide off the cart or something. Poor little guy hates riding with me :sad2:

We were on SM at WDW, when the lights suddenly came on! While I realized that there was no possible way I could accidentally hit anything by reaching up, I did however see how much the track moves when a spaceship rounds a curve!!!

I really believe that if the lights ever came on while i was riding, it would be my last right. I'm so terrified of roller coasters, i can only do this one because its in the dark. :scared1:

I don't put my hands up because I'm holding my daughter for dear life.

She is a petite 11 yr. old, and I'm always afraid she will slip out and I wouldn't even know ! :rotfl:

And, she's yelling at me to let go of her, so she can put her arms way UP high ! :scared:

That article said that if you don't exceed the maximum height then you're fine... does disney have a max height?!

Things like Disney rides may be designed to accomodate height and weight percentiles. This would be a common thing to do. The state of California may have a law regarding the clearance amount and Disney may say let aim for people upto 95th in height for the US to fit in that clearance. So if you aren't playing in the NBA because you can dunk while standing next to a basketball hoop, I wouldn't worry.

I have seen space with the lights on so I know there is room but I'm still afraid that my hands will hit.

Yup, we started "hands up for fun" and even "hands up for anticipation" to encourage my DD7 (6 at the time) - She loves to yell (quietly!) it at the beginning of coasters! :cool1:

Oh yeah. If my arms are going to hit they are in serious trouble (I am only 5'2 so someone 6'2 would probably be getting decapitated :rotfl: )
