own a craft store? I'm meeting with my bank tomorrow to talk to a small business advisor about starting one. I'd like to own a small online craft store but i'm struggling to know where to start! Most of the companies I'm looking at on the web like EK Sucess and Bazzill are asking for lots of details about the shop before they even let you register, I haven't even started the store yet so how do I get the stock to begin???

Any advice hugely appreciated!!

If you decide to open a franchise, check the rules very carefully. Some of them have territory restrictions that affect where you can advertise and make sales. Many of them have a restriction that says should you decide to give up their franchise and start a business of your own, you cannot do anything similar to their business for at least two years.

I don't own a scrapbook store, but work at one. You may also want to consider join Craft and Hobby Association (CHA), they offer alot of help for start ups and retailer tips. As Feralpeg said alot of places may have territory restrictions, and you also may not be able to deal with some companies if you do not havea brick and mortar (sp?) store. One that comes to mind is Quickutz. You may want to try to contact reseller companies for scrapbook supplies because alot of places like EK and K&Co have large minimum orders or yearly quota type of requirments. Try to search in google for scrapbook sales representatives or scrapbook wholesale companies.

Another thing you might want to start on asap is getting your business liscense, some companies won't even correspond with you if you don't have it.
