If you do, what or where is it and what kind of "pain management" are you on?

I have a bad disc in my lower back. It hurts me just about all the time, especially when standing. I usually just take Ibuprofen, I think I've gotten used to the pain. I tried Vioxx, didn''t seem to help too much :( Some nights I take a Tylenol PM to help me sleep.

I forgot to say that I couldn't live without my chiropractor. Going to her lessens the pain immensely :)

DH has nerve damage in his neck from being hit by another car. He has been having Radio frequency Lesioning treatments for past few years every few months. He takes pain meds and Ibuprophen as needed and uses ice packs at times. He is miserable often. Nothing much can be done as it is nerve damage.

Me too, DD. I have a protruding, degenerated disk in my lower back. They tried those really, really long needles and short needles. Acckkk! They were just too much for me. They put me on some kind of medicine that made me loopy, so I had to stop taking that. Finally, I got fed up with the Docs. I take OTC meds, and those ThermaCare heat wraps help. Other than that, I just live with it.

Mine is SUPPOSED to be acute but after 4 weeks and two UNSUCCESSFUL ESWLs I'm wondering when that would be considered chronic. A couple Vicodin works on the mild spats - only IV Dimerol or Morphene works for the rest! OUCH!!! :(

I have Chronic Adult Onset Stills Disease and developed Fibromylagia as a side effect to it. It's been 3 yrs of constant pain for the AOSD and 2 yrs on the Fibro.

I haven't been successful in pain treatment but currently I'm on Dexamethasone, Bextra, Methotrexate and a mix of Antidepressants to try to kill the Fibromyalgia. Next step is Remicade or Enbrel if my insurance will agree to cover it :(

Dislocated both shoulders on more than 1 occasion, currently nursing a torn rotater cuff on one and hyper-extended both elbows... ice hockey/football/martial arts. No pain management...some days bad others just there, don't want surgery so I try not to complain too much. Besides if I do complain DW won't let DS play hockey or football growing up.

I have fibromyalgia so I'm pretty much always in some kind of pain. I think I might be keeping the Advil company in business.

I have it in my knees. I have no cartlidge left in either knee. :(

Its a lot better now that I started "jogging" in the pool thats built up the muscles around my knees and it isnt so painful anymore. Ive been off swimming for a couple of weeks but i have to go back! Its going to rain here soon and I can feelit coming on. Other than that I use advil, aspercreme, and if its really bad, ice and warm compresses.

another herniated disc sufferer here! I had pain meds. years ago but felt like they werent doing anything. I go to the chiropractor when im doing really bad and use the heating pad.

I have a frozen shoulder condition that I've been battling since October so I guess it's fairly chronic. It's gotten better through therapy but it still doesn't move too well and can hurt like the dickens sometimes. Ice helps and Tylenol too when I really ache.

Me too. I'm with Princess Michelle on keeping the Advil company in business. It seems to be the only thing that helps at all. Most of the strong stuff doesn't touch me. I'm too difficult.

Anyway, one thing I did find that helped me with a lot of pain was discovering one of my food allergies. I don't know exactly what the connection is, but I don't have near as much pain in my joints now that I know to avoid eggs. Sometimes the pain in my hips and knees was so bad that it was all I could do to make the tiny step up into our bathroom. Shortly after this started, I found out about a severe allergy to eggs that I had developed rather suddenly. I was having other symptoms of an allergic reaction and just didn't connect the severe pain with it. I've been in pain for so many years now that I just thought it was getting even worse. Now that I avoid eggs I don't have near as much pain. It's easy to know when I've had something with eggs in it even if it doesn't bother my breathing because within a few hours I will have a hard time walking! I know that it isn't the same for others, but I thought I would share anyway.

I have a lot of pain in my knees and a painful rotor cup tendon in my right shoulder. I take Sulindac (anti-inflamatory) and Tylenal (can't take aspirin-type meds because of the Sulindac. Ice helps when the shoulder is really kicking up (a lot of time it's during th night when I've been resting on that side and wake up with it really hurting).

I have had fibromyaligia for 18 years now. Everything hurts, aches, feels tight. I just take 1 amitryptoline (sp?) every night, and if it hurts really bad, a couple of advil. There is no cure for it, but I have learned to live with the pain. I refuse to let it stop me from doing what I want.:D

Gosh I'm certainly not alone here with my neck pain! I can't believe how long some of you have suffered!!

My DS (22) has had 5 surgeries on his knees.....I can't imagine the pain he will be dealing with down the road!:(

Not really pain, but I have a condition called Meneries, its an inner ear thing that makes you dizzy or off balance most of the time. Meds do help, but make me very tired, so i stay dizzy most of the time. This also causes nausea, so I take alot of meclizine.

I have chronic neck pain, which causes chronic headaches. I've long thought I have fibromyalgia, though my doctor always shrugs that off. In any case, I've found Excedrin works best. I also see a chiropractor when it gets really bad.

I had never heard of fibromyalgia until I started this thread. It certainly does not sound like fun! How do you get it?

They don't really know. You just start hurting. Could be one thing, could be a combo of things. I just got a sharp pain in my rib cage one day, I thought I pulled of muscle, but then it quickly spread to where my whole body ached and felt stiff. There are tender points where the pain originates from, making your whole body feel sore. But if you take x-rays, etc, everything looks perfectly normal. If you met me in person, you would never think anything was wrong, other than I am a bit looney. :teeth:

Well you certainly wouldn't know you're in pain by your posting MJ!!!!;) :) :bounce:

One question......do you ride rides?
