Does anyone here NOT like Whispering Canyon Cafe?

Haven't been there in years, but have no desire to return. Not that it was terrible, but there are better places for us to eat on property.:earsboy:

We didnt think the food was great and the experience was nothing to brag about. But maybe some pixie dust will fall at the WCC

Breakfast was great, not quite as mad cap, or maybe we were just left alone! Dinner was not great, as the food wasn't all that good. However DS did join in some of the things going on. Service was okay, but not stellar. I would go again for breakfast (but probably only if I was staying at WL) but not for dinner.

We don't like it.

Food is mediocre. Our service was very slow. The noise really bothers my middle son who is not fond of the place at all. I think it's OK once, but we have no plans to return.

When we went, we were probably one of the last tables seated for the evening. Our server/servers ignored the kids and didn't do any of the fun pranks that we had heard they do. We watched other servers play around with their tables but our server must have been a dud. :( Food was marginal, at best. I was not impressed.

That was our problem as well, you could tell our waitress was ready for the end of her day...she wasn't into it really at all, my DD was a little bit jealous of the other tables whose servers were still acting up, however you just had the vibe that it was the end of the night. We are going back, this time for breakfast, I really didn't care for the food at dinner (it seemed like it sat around, being the end of the night and all), so I am hoping Breakfast is better.:rolleyes1

I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't like or appreciate the antics. On our last time there, the waitress was in full character. :scared1: She yelled, screamed, bellowed. I know that this is what they are suppose to do, but I don't like it. I do not mind the food. My son loves it, he thinks it's hilarious. My daughter is absolutely petrified when they start screaming.

We actually tried to get a quite time. But that didn't work out. Since it wasn't too busy, she had time to do a lot more yelling and throwing. I think she had about 5 tables including us and out of that only one table seemed to be enjoying it. I do have to commend her on her character. But I just don't like being around all that.

The few times we were there, I look around and some waiters/waitress do a little but not overly loud. I always think, why can't that be our waiter/waitress. Why do we always get the loud one!:confused3

The only consolation is that my son loves it there. He enjoys every single minute of it. I'm more of a quiet atmosphere/experience kind of person. ;)

We ate there last August and really enjoyed the food but i didn't particularly like the antics, whereas my family thought it was great fun. As we're staying at VWL next week they want to eat there again so i've made a lunch reservation. We had a very pleasant Waitress last year who left us alone, but i'm worried i won't be so lucky this time round.
So is it ok to ask for a quiet table and do many people request to be seated away from the action? I'm just worried this may draw further attention to us.

I made the unfortunate mistake of going there for breakfast--just once. Aside from all the silly antics (too many to recount here), there was a table of all adults just next to us. They were screaming and yelling for all they were worth--absolutely loving it.
Just after the childrens stick-horsey ride around the restaurant, one of the men in that group got up, grabbed a stick-horse, and "rode" around the restaurant, slapping his behind the whole while. The people he was with were in stiches--convulsed with laughter, gasping for breath, almost rolling on the floor.
I just wanted to cry--

Oh no!! I figured breakfast was a safe time to go, as I really do not like the "interaction" either. Nothing like having a table full of rowdy grown ups, I can accept kids getting into it, but that would drive me nuts too. We have the ressie for breakfast at 8am (we're staying at WL) so maybe they won't be so wide awake by then!!!!:rotfl:
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I actually love all of the hootin' and hollerin' antics--- I'm always up for a fun time--- I was actually disappointed because it seemed like there weren't enough antics anymore.

Well.....I ate breakfast there with a friend last year. We asked the host for a quiet table, and he said we were 'old ladies' and stuck us right in the middle of the action. OK, no big deal, we ate in a hurry and beat it out of there. But the moral of the story is, if you don't want to participate, and you want to be sure that you'll be left alone....eat somewhere else.

I really wish they'd provide another TS option for breakfast and lunch at WL.

I'm assuming you didn't know what type of restaurant it was? I was under the impression that the whole point of going to WCC was to partake in that kind of rowdy, atmosphere. It's definitely not for everyone. You specifically didn't mention this but why on earth would anyone go thinking that you might be put in a quiet area or get uptight when other people who are obviously there for all of the antics are bellowing and whooping it up? That's why there's many dining options. I can't help but laugh when I read comments like "I'm more of a quiet person", "I hope I get a quiet waitress", "I'm not comfortable with all the antics". Then don't go there. Obviously you need to be a bit of an extrovert or be willing to tolerate seeing adults act childish and silly....at Disneyworld. My family would love the antics but I'd probably wouldn't go there just based on the negative food reviews alone as opposed to the fact that the staff and restaurant is loud. To each his own.

I made a late lunch ADR at WC last year because we ended up not using one of our DP TS meals. Heard so many good things about it, that I figured it would be fun for DD5. We showed up late for our ADR, and waited a good while for a table. Figured it'd be worth the wait. Nope! The food was just eh. Our waitress was ok, but not so much fun. We were celebrating DD's birthday, and the waitress asked me if she was shy (not so much!) and a good sport. I told her yes on both counts, so she made her stand on a chair while they sang Happy Birthday. No wood stick-pony rides, which she would have gotten a kick out of, no ketchup/straws/soda antics. We also found the place to be out of the way, so it didn't leave a lot of time to do much else. The one bright spot in the whole meal is DD had fun playing with the Lincoln Logs. Not a horrible experience, but not one we will be returning to with so many other fun places.

We hated this place!!!

First we were seated 20 minutes past our 10am ADR and the place was half empty. Then our waitress spent so much time goofing around with the other tables we sat there for close to 10 minutes before she even came to get our drink order. We ordered the all you can eat skillet which took close to 20 minutes to come out. We were famishes at this point and ate it all quickly. It sat there empty for at least 10 more before she asked if we wanted a refill. It took another 20 minutes to come out and was delivered by the manager. It was close to noon by the time we left our 10am ADR!!!

Never, ever again!

On our last visit to WCC the skillet was absolutely awful. The food was cold, dried out, and tasted like it had been sitting around for hours. We have not returned since, but if we do ...we won't be ordering the skillet.

Mrs. Disney Ron

Ditto what she said! The skillet was dried out, cold and nasty!

My son (4 yrs.) just loved it! He still sings "If Your Happy and You Know it say Yeeeeeeee Hawwwwwwwww" all the time. For me, I could take or leave the antics of the wait staff, but if my kids are happy, I'm happy!

My wife decided that this was where she wanted to dine for our 33rd anniversery. Well we've done it, and I wasn't impressed! We will not be going back if I can help it.

Detroitdad: Notice the word "mistake" in my post?
I was well aware of the so-called "antics" at dinner --we walked by Whispering Canyon many times on the way to a good restaurant (Artist Point). But like Wildernessbride, we thought breakfast--at the only place you can get breakfast at the Wilderness Lodge--would be relatively normal.
It isn't and now we know never to go back!!

Looks like I may have made a grave mistake. We are going to WCC on Feb 10th for a late lunch res. We will be celebrating my wifes B-Day. My family loved 50's prime time and we have never eaten at a resort restaurant only park restaurants so I thought this would be a good first 'out of park' experience. But maybe not huh:confused:
