Does anyone here know about changing bathtub faucets?

I currently have the type of handle that you just turn left or right for hot and cold, but I want to change that so that there is a knob for each hot and cold. I just recently moved into this house and at my old house I used to enjoy taking a bath and turning the hot water knob on just a little to let the warm water slowly keep the water warm. With this new one knob system, its just full blast water at all times. Any thoughts on how easy it would be to change this?

I have never done it but I can tell you that there are videos on youtube that will show you.

Not that easy. It would require quite a bit of plumbing work.

Does yours look like this?

going from single lever to dual handle control is goingto require wall mdifications, likely some fairly modest plumbing skills at least and a couple tri[ps to the store. in all honesty... double handle valves are obsolete and are not easy to come by anyway, i would adjust to the single lever control if it was me.

btw i am a plumbing specialist at lowes, and a liscenced plumber... this is not a job for the beginner

Not easy at all. We tried a few years ago, and failed miserably. Ended up having a plumber come in.

Yes mine looks like the photo.

Well is there anything I can do that would allow me to control how much water comes out of the faucet?

Do you know how to sweat pipe?

I wanted to stop the tiny drip in our bathtub. Trying to change the cartridge in the faucet, the plumbing in the wall twisted. So we had to remove the tile wall, redo the plumbing. put up a new wall, then retile it. We still have not painted the wall above the tile.

But we have a new faucet and it does not drip! My dad taught me as we were redoing his entire house.

I don't know how to sweat pipe. I am actually gutting the whole bathroom though and my plan is to ceramic tile the walls in the bathtub section. I just figured I could make some adjustments with the faucet before starting that project.

if you havre the wall out anyway, there are faucrets available still, but the nicer ones are extremely pricey... barclay makes some good ones

Many faucets flow at one rate and the only adjustment is temperature.
Is it too much water or too little? If it is too little you may be able to remove the water saver device in the shower head. If it is too much you can add a restrictor with a knob.

I know what you mean about the two knobs. sometimes you just want a little more hot, or a little more cold. I miss the two knobs.

Ya, wait. Do you have the wall open already? Or it is planned to be open?
that is a way different story!
