Does anyone here know a lot about roller skates?

I don't know much BUT I know with inline skates, inspect them carefully before using them especially if they are OLD.

Last winter I got the bright idea to dig out my skates from like back in the 90's. I made it about 10 feet, tried to turn and the plastic clip that holds them tight above the ankle on one of them (don't know what that stuff is called) broke and down I went. Thankfully the padding from 1994 was still functional. :rotfl:

If they are anything like the figure skate boots, there are different levels of support on the ankles. The stiffer the support, the higher level the skater. So you don't want something that like that if you are a beginner. Riedell has a decent beginner figure skate boot, and I believe they make roller skate boots, too. I would start with that brand.

With figure skates, not all blades are created equal -- far from. Stock blades don't land the high jumps. They okay for beginners or for recreational skaters, but not for skaters actually wanting to learn moves and jumps. I'd assume the same is true with roller skate wheels.

That's just it....

I actually ordered a nice regular (quad-artistic) pair of skates.
Not cheap ones.... The smoothest/fastest ABEC-7 bearings.

But, they are not like 'cool' looking like some of the 'Jam' or 'Derby' skates.

I don't know what the difference is?

This would be for basic recreational skating.

How do the wider (sure-grip) wheels affect skating?
I saw some skates that said for outdoor or BANKED indoor rinks????

Chicago has been my favorite brand for years and years.

I used mine that was dance for regular skating, I also had a racing pair. It all comes down to what is comfortable for you.
