Lupas? I posted yesterday with body aches and pains..thinking arthritis may be coming. Although this runs the family, I did some more in depth searching and things are more similar to onset of lupas. Now, I still have not been to the doctor- can't be seen this week, looks like in two weeks...if I can wait that long- may go visit the urgent care place.
I am achy all over when I sit for short or long periods of time
Hard to get up in the mornings- trying to move around
losing lots of hair when I brush (however, I did have a baby 5 months ago- could be hormones)
very fatigued all the time -which is hard with the little ones home this summer

I haven't seen red patches - as far as I know
sometimes low grade fever for a short time with some chills, etc.
headaches

Now, these symptoms have been for about a month or so and progressively getting worse and are NOT typical of me. I just need some guidance and reassurance- pretty scared of what is coming over me.

Any suggestions, advice?

While I'm glad you are going to the doctor, try not to imagine the worst. Sometimes I wish there wasn't so much medical information available on the net. It just lets people scare themselves.

In answer to your question, I know several people who have Lupus. It is a disease that is different in everyone who has it. One person I know has all sort of problems. The other has hardly any. In fact, she didn't even realize she had it until she went to the doctor for something else and he noticed the butterfly rash across her face.

After having a baby, it takes some time to get back up to speed. I lost a bunch of hair after DD was born.

Try not to worry!

I agree a visit to the dr is better then reading about what bothers
us on the internet and in the dreaded medical book! Have you thought about Lyme disease? My son had this last year and the symptoms are alot like lupus.

Here is what I found:

Lyme disease is an inflammatory disease characterized by a skin rash, joint inflammation, and flu-like symptoms, caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi transmitted by the bite of a deer tick.

The disease can sometimes be difficult to diagnose because the symptoms may mimic other diseases. A characteristic red rash usually occurs at the site of the bite. However, the bite may go unnoticed. A few months to years after the bite, joint inflammation, neurological symptoms, and sometimes heart symptoms may occur.(just wanted to add my son had no rash)Once they took a blood test and dicovered the disease he was much better with meds.

Goos Luck, Congrats on your baby and I hope you are felling better real soon! :wizard:

My best friend has lupus. She has good days and bad days.

I also have donated to this charity and there is lots of good info on their website about the disease: www.doroughlupusfoundation.org Howie D of the Backstreet Boys founded this charity after his sister died of lupus.

I would say you have a thyroid problem from the information you have given. It is VERY common after pregnancy to develop hypothyroidism. As far as chronic conditions go, this is a very easy one to have and manage, one little pill a day. This isn't' something you should wait to see a dr for. I would call back and tell them you need to be seen today. If the receptionist won't give you an appointment, talk to the nurse, tell her your symptoms, ESPECIALLY about the hair falling out, they will get you in at least for a blood test today.

If you can see a specialist without a referral, fine a good endocrinologist and again, explain your symptoms and they will get you in ASAP. Untreated thyroid conditions can be serious and even fatal, BUT treated it is EASY to live with.

Just found this thread and I'm wondering how you are feeling. Did you see a dr yet?
