Does Anyone have the Olympus Stylus 770SW

I am looking at this camera also, to supplement my Digital Rebel, so I would also love to here any opinions.

I just bought the 760 last week as a backup to my DSLR and I love, love, love it. My son has the 770sw and he loves it as well and has used it underwater. His pictures were awesome.

Thank you for responding. I am glad to hear that. I have been watching this camera since last fall and it finally came out. The reviews have been favorable and I am very tempted. I have been happy with my other Olympus Stylus 800 and I finally like Olympus Master software. It took a while to get it to work with the emal on Apple but its fine now.

One more question, I am going to order the Gg memory card. Do you think I need the extra battery. Its a supplemental camera for us.

If you are using SD cards you may want to look at the Pentax W30.

The Olympus uses an XD card.

Do you have the Pentax? I went to a local store a couple of weeks ago, and they let me take pics of my dd with both cameras and printed them both for me at the store, and the Pentax pics ( I took 2 because the first one was so bad) were terrible compared to the Olympus, so that is why I am looking at the 770sw now.

No, I have the Olympus Stylus 800, which is weatherproof. I loved it for Hawaii. Getting caught in the rain was no problem. Dropping it in the swimming pool would have been a problem. We snorkel, enjoy the water parks, etc, so I have been waiting for this 770SW to come out. The early reviews were great. I went to Ritz camera just to look at it, see how it focused, etc, and it is fine. They wouldn't match the internet price I found and even if they did, there would have been that little issue of TAX! I came home and ordered it from someone named Mike for $309.95. He waived the shipping, I bought the extra battery for $37.95. I could have found a generic battery for $29.95 but I went with the Olympus. I also bought a package of 3 LCD protectors and an Olympus neoprene camera case listed at $15 for $8. The extended 2 year warrantee with Olympus was $18 so I grabbed that too. Maybe in two years there will be a camera that can fall off the Contemporary Resort and not break! I can't wait until it comes.

No, I have XD cards and Costco has a 1G for $21.00! Great price!

I don't. Only reason I know about the cards is that I was looking to get a waterproof camera but the reason for getting one changed and I didn't get one.

Anyone else out there with experience with this camera? I really would like to buy it or the 720sw since it sounds like I won't ruin it.

MarkBarbieri recently bought a W30 and posted some shots in this thread.

Comparing photos taken in a store on a little LCD is probably not ideal... try checking some reviews for sample photos.

I bought it when it came out. Some sample pics I posted before but I couldn't find the old post.

Our family we cruised with has the Olympus 720sw, they bought it just for underwater pics for this cruise. It was wonderful!

I was not comparing on the LCD if you re-read, you will see that they printed the photos at the store for me that I took, and the Olympus photo's were much better than the Pentax. I haven't taken many since I bought it, but so far I love it.

If you ever decide to buy from Ritz camera or Wolf camera, do it on their websites.

They were smart when it comes to taxes.

What they did was incorporate separately from their retail stores. That way they are not located in any state and don't have to charge tax.

Thanks for this tidbit! I often wondered how they were able to not charge tax.
