Does Anyone Have Pergo Flooring?

I have it throughout my 2 story 5 bedroom house for YEARS!!! it lasts forever and never scratches! when my boys were younger and we had 5 dogs running in and our from the back yard and having a pool with wet coming in and out we decided to forgo "Wood Floors" ....we wanted less maintenance.....we went with the higher end of Pergo not the cheeper end by the way...we have had it in our home for around 20 years and they still look GREAT! and we still have 3 dogs :) woth every penny we paid! if you have any questions I will be glad to answer them for you here or PM :)

We have it in a large area covering our living room and foyer entry. It's about 4 years old now and has no scratches, however it is buckling in two small places where my dog secretly peed and we didn't catch it fast enough. So it does buckle easily if water or liquid gets on it. Because of that, you have to be careful how you clean it. Our builder told us a horror story about a cleaning company they used to clean one of their completed homes before closing. The cleaner didn't know the floor was laminate and used a regular mop with water and ruined the whole floor! I used a Swiffer Wetjet on it for a period of time but it made it streaky. I use a steam mop now which works very well on the lightest setting. Otherwise, I love the look of it and have found it durable.

Only thing I dislike about ours is that ours is a dark brown color and shows every little thing on it. Every dirt, every dust speck, every light brown hair from my dog, every spot from shoes that walk across it, etc etc. Because of that, I am vacuuming almost every other day and mopping weekly. If it were a lighter color, these things would be far less noticeable I think.

I had Pergo in a home about 25 years ago (very new then). Didn't have a problem with it except for a small flooding problem - not wear and tear. But my father installed a laminate that was not Pergo and it was awful. Bubbling, peeling, warping. So I tell people to be wary of other cheapo laminates.

Is there a reason why you do not want real wood? I installed site finished plank (about 1 1/4 inch think) wood floors in my condo. They are beautiful and literally should last forever. They look like the wood floors that were installed 100+ years ago.

On my most recent home I installed a very high quality prefinished wood veneer (but thicker). I did that because the foundation was going to make it more difficult to install plank flooring. I've grown accustomed to it - but the wood plank is better looking. I like both much better than the Pergo - although I did not hate the Pergo at all.

The people that bought my house with Pergo ripped it all out immediately. Lots of people really HATE Pergo so it can be a factor for resale.

I've had it for about 6 years. My dad put it in and did an okay job. There are a few questionable areas from his installation technique or lack thereof. Even at that, I haven't had any problems, but I am very careful not to get water on floor. Also they are this pickled white pine finish (love it!) that really doesn't need to have a shine to it, and it it looked cloudy, it probably would just look like the floor has more character. Also, they are not loud at all. My hardwood is a million times louder.
