I was going to buy this for DD2 for Xmas, since there is a Wiggles book available (and we are ga ga over the Wiggles). I have the Little Touch Leappad, and was not thrilled with it (but I didn't really give it a chance). My friend says I should not buy it, and wait until a year or so to buy the regular leappad, which I believe is for ages 4-8. The My First one is good for 3-5. I think my DD would benefit from the ABC book, etc, as she is not as advanced as others her age. Should I buy this toy on sale?
Thanks!

I bought this for my daughter last year for Christmas and she had just turned 2. She still uses it and for us it was worth buying. Only now is she using the way it is intended with the activities and actually listening to the stories. For the longest time she would sit and use the pen to hear the same sounds over and over and over and over....well you get the idea. A thumbs up from us!

DD received this for her second birthday back in August, and she loves it. even 3 months later (a point by which most new toys have long since lost their appeal) she still plays with it a lot. I would definitely recommend it. I'm actually planning on buying more books for it for DD for Christmas.

I think you should definitely go for the my first leap pad. My DD got it when she was 3 and is now 5 & still uses it. She also has the regular leap pad that she got last year. DS3 tries to use that one & it's a little too advanced for him, so he mostly sticks to the first one.

I think your DD will get a couple good years out of it. Walmart has the first one on sale on Friday too!

Another vote for the First Leappad! My DD got it when she was almost 3 & still enjoys it at 41/2. There are several good books for that age range.

Go with the My First Leap Pad. Your child will get good use out of it for 2 or more years -- and by the time you are ready for the regular Leap Pad, they will be offereing something better/different - that's the way it is with technology toys. If my DD didn't already have a regular Leap Pad, there are newer versions available that look really cool that I would want her to have, so I say go for it and enjoy it for as longs as you will, without regrets.

I got a decent deal, I think.... I got the Leappad for 15., and 5 books for 38. So, in the end it did cost $53 total, but I got free shipping (yaaayyyy Toys R Us). I think it was the fact that they had a Wiggles book that helped make my decision. One thing I am confused about- how do you know which books go with which Leappad? Luckily these said My First Leappad in the description, but I was thinking of getting the regular Leappad as well.

Please tell, would the Wiggles one work on a regular Leap Pad. I'm thinking of buying one for DS5. He adores the Wiggles.

The Myfirst LeapPad books are NOT compatable with the regular LeapPad.

OP, as cheap as the LeapPads are now, I would go ahead and buy both. I'm almost certain that the MyFirst is going to be on sale for some insanely cheap price ($20?) on Friday. I remember reading it somewhere. While your little one can start using the 'regular' LP at 4....she can enjoy the 'my first' until at least 5 and I think the 'my first' is a better option for a little one (though if I were buying for a 4YO I'd buy regular...as it would be a better 'bargain' in the end). Anyways, MyFirst LP is really durable and the 'games/books' are too. I'd go for it.

I bought them both. My reasoning is to see how DD2 likes My First Leappad, then move up to the second once she is ready. If not, I can always give it as a gift! DD is a bit behind with her speaking and letters, so I'm hoping this will help. She already loves to play with her Princess Laptop (but not in the way intended).
