I saw an ad for Silver Springs and it look interesting? I was wondering if anyone has been there? If you have, can you tell me what there is to do? How far is it from WDW? I would be GRATEFUL for any information.. :D Oh... it will only be me and my husband. :D

I have not been there personally since I was 9 years old... a long time. ;) My DMIL lives near there and it takes us at least 90 minutes to drive to visit her from WDW (may explain the lack of replies here). IIRC, it's not terribly near the interstate so you're reduced to state road speeds for some time. Here is their web site:

The water at this place is crystal clear, with glass bottom boats, lovely picnic grounds, a nature park/small zoo, scheduled entertainment events and an associated water park with the usual slides and wave pool. It's very popular with local people who get annual passes. Hope that helps. :)

The only real drawback here is the drive, which can be almost 2 hours if you don't know the way or are staying down in Kissimmee. It is a nice, relaxing countryfied alternative to the main parks and has some excellent animal shows, exhibits and rides. It does get busy at weekends but is a lovely day out during the week (as is Cypress Gardens, come to that - www.cypressgardens.com ).

It's a tough choice :D

Lisa and Simon thank you SO much for your feedback. I wasn't aware that it was so far away. From reading the brochure, I thought it was a 30 minute ride. I have never been to cypress gardens. But looking at the website, it does look very nice... :D

WHATZ UP!!??

Thank you so much for your offer. However, my husband and I decided against Silver Springs because of the long drive to get there. I was under the impression it was going to be a 30-40 minute ride at most. But thanks again for your very generous offer. :D
