Does anyone have this? We have DISH network right now but are thinking of switching since Direct is cheaper and we are having a lot of scrambled tv shows with dish. Thanks.

We do & we like it. I can't help much with plans because we are grandfathered into an old plan that's not available anymore. Customer service is good. I'm not as fond of the new menus & guide. It's too cluttered & things that I use to do with 1-2 clicks now take several screens.
But overall we like it.

We do and are considering switching to TWC. We're grandfathered into an old plan that no longer exists, so our bill is quite low for what we get, but reception stinks. The wind blows the wrong way and we get no signal.

Customer service has been fair, not great.

We have had Directv for about 14 or 15 years now - it is the only way to get the complete NFL football package with every game during the season. My husband is a displaced Charger fan and he would never get to see his team play without Directv. We love it and have loved it for years.

Picking a TV service is a pain these days. My son has spend much of the past week trying to match a service with a price he is willing to pay.
Just have to match the programing and features with a price you want to pay
I have had Dish for 13 years. No complaints. As my son found out, they are the only ones that don't charge extra for HD. Not an issue for me, because we don't own an HD TV. I know at work we get the most complaints about Comcast and Direct.

We've had it since 2000. Moved twice since then and everything has been great :) We will lose the picture for a minute or two when a MAJOR thunderstorm comes over the mountain. (I live in the lower part of the poconos) Never lost it during any of the hurricanes or any of our snow/ice storms.

We've had it for about nine years and wouldn't think of changing, Our bill is higher than I would like, but it's less than it could be - DD#1 is a former Brighthouse customer service rep, and she knows all the right things to ask for to get your bill reduced. Also, I love sports and have to have the Extra Innings and regional sports packages, which are not cheap. (In exchange, DH gets Sirius radio for his Durango.)

We've had great reception and our service was only out for about a total of a half hour during the four consecutive hurricanes we had in 2004. We rarely lose reception now.

That's a satellite dish mount problem, not a DirecTV problem.

I've had them for years and am very satisfied. Customer service is excellent.

Direct TV is great. My wife didn't like them but after I convinced her to switch, I think she's really satisfied. Crystal clear reception on all channels. No weather related issues at all. I even had perfect quality during hurricane sandy... Until we lost power at least.

The best part is the genie dvr system where we can watch recorded programs in any room. It can record 5 different channel at once. It was a big upgrade from the Cablevision/TiVo service we previously had.

My father and I have Dish at the office, I really don't care for it.

We have DirecTV. My only complaint is that the HD receiver isn't wireless (and needs an adapter). This day and age, that just shouldn't be.

We have reception problems occassionally in heavy rain, but I think that's a problem with the trees in the way of the dish site line :)

We've had them for probably 8 years or so. When we built our house, we chose to stay with DirectTV because we were so satisfied with their service and the customer service.
I have nothing bad to say about Direct TV.

We have had both Dish and Direct. Seems like Direct is a cut above. We left Directv for Dish's promo offering free HD programming, Directv wouldn't match it to keep us as customers.

Eventually Directv offered to buy out our contract for us to return as customers....and do the free HD which is what we wanted to begin with. We switched back to Directv and glad to be back.

Huh? New customer's with DirecTV gets free HD "for life." With is a moot point anyway, HD should be free no matter what company you are with.

Anyway, I was with Uverse when I moved into my condo. Got rid of that, and went with DirecTV, way better service. Should have done it to being with, my parents got D* back in 1995, and haven't looked back.

We switched from Dish to DirecTv and couldn't be happier. We are paying about the same but have all of the better channels plus we can record and watch recordings in any room. I got annoyed with all of the Dish nonsense during the AMC feud and haven't looked back since.

Check into their new HD boxes. We have 2 wireless HD boxes. One in the living room and one in our bedroom. We can watch the DVR in the bedroom from the living room box. Our bill is pretty high but I like their service.

programming is good but customer service is terrible. In fact, we cancelled Directv due to their horrible customer service and I told this company any chance I got to tell people about how bad they are I would. Expect to pay $5 anytime you have to have a representative help you with anything! Took me 2 months and multiple phone calls to finally cancel their service.

I don't understand the bolded. It should only be "scrambled" if you didn't pay for it. If you paid for it and can't receive it, contact Dish.

A) You want the receiver wireless to what? Your TV? The satellite?
B) If trees are in the way, you'd have problems while the leaves are out rain or shine, it shouldn't just be a problem when it rains. Any satellite service is going to have trouble if there's enough water (cuts the signal received by the dish) between the dish and the satellite. That is also affect by what satellite you are watching. When our HD Dish signal occasionally goes out because of a rain storm, I can switch to the SD version of the channel and it come in fine. That's because it's on a different satellite.

Bottom line when selecting between Dish & Direct... programming vs. price. Figure out what channels are necessary, then find out what the companies will charge you to get all the channels you need. Don't forget both companies offer a lower rate for new subscribers, and the cost will go up (either in 1 year or after the 2nd). Unless you want to keep bouncing between them every two years, take the added charge into account.

FWIW, I've had Dish for 14 years.
