Does anyone have children that attend Grade Centered Learning Centers?

Our school district consists of 5 small rural communities that each had their own elementary schools until tonight when the school board voted to close two that had such low attendance that they used combined classrooms (1&2, 3&4, 5&6). These students now need to be absorbed. A decision needs to be made regarding keeping the remaining three schools as 1st-6th (kindergarteners already all attend one central location, as do Jr/Sr High) or changing them over to Grade Centered Learning Centers where all 1-2 graders attend one school, 3-4 another school, and 5-6 at the third. I am on the committee that is going to look at all the pros & cons and submit a recommendation to the school board. We will be getting information from two area districts that use Learning Centers, but both have just implemented this system for the current school year. Does anyone have any opinions on Learning Centers?
