Does anyone have any info on the unemployment extension?

I am currently on tier I which is set to end for me on April 16th. I am not elgible for tier II unless a bill is passed. You do have to expire your current tier before entering another.

I have no idea if a bill has passed and until what time. I keep reading about it but don't understand it.

Jobs are hard to come by and if I could get on tier II that would give me another 14 weeks.

Anyone have any info on this? Thanks

I hate to say this, but it depends on whether or not the extension the Senate just passed passes the House and gets signed by the President before April 16th. If it does get signed, you'll be good to go. If not, it will probably be signed shortly thereafter, and you'll be able to get Tier 2 at that point. Personally, I believe you'll be fine with a date of April 16.

The extension date right now is until April 5th (I think). I am not elgible to enter another tier since I am still on my first tier. The extension date needs to be April 16th or after.

If April 5th is the last extension date then my benefits will permanently end April 16th.

As of this minute, that is correct. However, IF the bill the Senate just passed is approved by the House and signed by President Obama, the extension date will be 12/31 and you'll be able to enter tier 2 on the 16th of April, as long as the bill is signed before that date.

If it is signed after that date, you'll enter Tier 2 whenever it is signed, as long as you are still unemployed.

If it is not signed at all, you're basically out of luck.

Just wondering if there was any new news to report. I haven't heard any but then I don't always know how to decipher the reports.
