Does Anyone Have any feedback on Liberty Tree Tavern?

We are going this Sept. and can make our ADR's on Weds. Staying at the Poly, so for convenience sake, we like to eat in restaurants that can be reached via monorail.

I was considering Liberty Tree Tavern for our last meal over Chef Mickey. Love the characters at CM but the food, atmosphere, cleanliness, wait time, etc., I felt left a lot to be desired (but that's another post).

How is the food really at Liberty Tree? I know it's no longer a character meal, but I would sacrafice the characters for decent food and a clean place to eat. I also thought it would be cool to eat in MK for our last night, and Spectro and Wishes are on for that night so I would work our ADR time around those.

Oh, I am already planning on eating at CP on our first night, so want to try something different for our last.

And by the way, any truth to the rumor that characters may come back to LTT? That would make the decision a no-brainer.

We loved it as a character meal. The food is ok but not our favorite. Service was great and the character interaction was the BEST of any CM we have ever had. We liked to do LTT before the MVVCP. It was the perfect start to a fun evening. HOWEVER,,,I am not sure if we would do it again just for the food. If you really want to eat in the MK that evening, it is not a bad choice!

We did it too when it was a character meal. The food is pretty good. We miss the characters too.

We ate there for our first time in February and we loved it...we will be going back to eat there again next year on our trip back.

It sounds like you're going for dinner, which we haven't tried. But the LTT lunch was one of the best meals on our last trip. Highly recommend!! It's a full menu instead of the family style pre-fix that they have for dinner.

We liked the fact that the restaurant was in the Magic Kingdom, which made it very convenient.

We liked the colonial atmosphere. We especially enjoyed being "announced" when we were sat. The server yells out "The Duck family from Pennsylvania" or something like that.

We really liked the interaction with characters.

The family style food left something to be desired. We felt the meat was too dry and a lot of the food was cold. We ate there both in 2002 and 2006, and were happy in 2002, but weren't as happy in 2006.

If the characters aren't back, I wouldn't bother.

We had dinner there when the characters were there and it was fun. We are leaving in 4 days to go back :cool1: and I still made a reservation there even with no characters. I really enjoyed the food. It was a break from the hamburgers, buffets. It was an old fashioned small Thanksgiving Day meal. Of course it wasen't like eating in your own kitchen or at your moms, but it was GOOD! It is great being in the Magic Kingdom, for conveinence to the park. I think you will enjoy it. Not sounding like a snob but with my hubby's job we get to eat out quite a bit and so I feel like I can honestly talk about restaurants and I really think you will enjoy this one. Sure there are others at Epcot, or other locations that are notably better but between Chef Mickeys and Liberty Tree and regarding food only, LIBERTY TREE HANDS DOWN!!!

Its hubbys fav. He loves roasted Turkey. Think Thanksgiving Day dinner. If you like that kinda food, you'll love it.

I missed that it isnt a character meal anymore. When did that happen?

We had trouble with adjusting to a time difference - so our second day in at WDW we had to skip and ADR for a late breakfast at Crystal Palace. In it's place my DH (who knew very little about places to eat) had the staff at the hotel find something.

We ended up with Liberty Tree Tavern lunch. I NEVER would have booked it myself. Just too filling food for lunch in 90-plus degree weather. I was not negative about it - because my huband was so sweet to take the time to go to the front desk when we were running late.

I was pleased with the meal. I had the pot roast and it was yummy. The kids liked their meal. My DH had the roast beef sandwich - he prefered my pot roast.

The wait staff was very friendly and helpful (She guided us away from something we were on the fence about). And when our kids' food arrived - something was not to one of my daughter's liking. She misunderstood was she was ordered. The waitress immediately got what my 6-year-old wanted.

I would recommend it.

We did it for lunch three years ago for the first time in over 20 visits and were pleasantly surprised. We would go back for lunch, but we prefer The Plaza and go there every visit. We've never done dinner at Liberty Tree because I'm not a fan of "thanksgiving" type food.

We ate at Liberty in September 2008 for my son's 3rd birthday when it was a character meal. The food was good but the server was not. It is probably the poorest service I have ever had - I think that the server got overwhelmed with too many tables at once. We got our food before our drinks! Actually, the person that brought our food realized that we had no drinks so we told him what we had ordered and he actually got our drinks for us.

I had also ordered a personalized chocolate birthday cake for my son. I had ordered it with the original reservation and they told me that I would need to call back 48 hours in advance to confirm which I did. When I got to Liberty, I told the hostess that it was my son's 3rd birthday and that I had ordered a personalized cake, when I was escorted to my table, I made sure to mention it again and when the server stopped by our table, I made sure she was aware. When the cake finally came, it was about 20 minutes after we were done eating, a cake came but it was the white generic Mickey Mouse birthday cake. I paid $15 for a small cake and I wanted it personalized so it was very disappointing.

I did make sure to talk to the manager on my way out and she did offer to send a cake to our room the next day that would be chocolate and personalized but we were leaving that day so I said no, thank you. I felt like she understood my disappointment and I appreciated the offer of a new cake even though I did not take advantage of it.

We had a reservation at 7pm and got there about 6:45 and waited until about 7:15 before we got seated. It was not a big deal because they were very busy, we were 15 minutes early and they had a kids activity table where the kids got to color a mask - it kept my son occupied.

I don't care for their dinner menu...but eating lunch there is a must do every vacation...love the Pot Roast anf the Ooey Gooey Toffee cake

Thanks for all the replies, I really appreciate the opnions. It seems from what most said, lunch seems to be better than dinner, and dinner is what we are planning to do. It does seem like a heavy meal for 90 degrees, too.

I almost feel as if Chef Mickey is a necessary evil. You have to suffer through the negatives to get eat with those darn fab five characters!

Tony's is a good suggestion, the only thing stopping me there is that we are planning on Mama Melrose for FP package, so I don't know if two nights of Italian will work. We're from NY, so we have some amazing italian around here and I think it will be a let down.

Decisions, decisions!!

If you are worried about a "heavy" meal in 90 degrees for dinner, then try the Plaza. It is simple salads, soups and sandwiches, along with wonderful shakes and awesome desserts. This is our least meal of every trip -- because we love the food and it is a nice change of pace from all the "heavy" meals we ate all week.

we LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE liberty tree!! (I'm a little excited about it, huh? :rotfl:) We've eaten there several times and always love it...the food is totally delicious. Of course, I love Thanksgiving meal. I think if you're a Thanksgiving fan, you'll love LTT.

I completely agree with you! My family has only eaten there once but it was the best meal all vacation. They meats were so juicy and tender and the sides were delicious! We did have to wait a little bit after our reservation time but not long, it may also have been because we requested a certain waiter who we know who works there. The service was great from everyone! We cannot wait to go back!

We had one of our dinners at Liberty Tree and it was great, I found it to be one of our more relaxing meals, not so loud etc and the food was great!! My son asked for seconds of things and he normally is very picky..

Have a great trip..

We really enjoy Liberty Tree Tavern, it is has been our restaurant of choice for the last meal of our trips 3 times now.

Last August my DD14 and I both had the chicken pasta, it was really good. The strawberry shortcake for dessert was AMAZING :thumbsup2 We still talk about it :lovestruc I was enjoying my meal too much to remember what my husband had
