I have this new program that I was able to talk our Techs into giving me a copy. Its basically an architectural program for designing spaces and layering different infustructor items. They offered me the 2004 edition with more bells and whistles but I figured I better start with the 2002 edition. My boss uses it all the time, he also went to a class on it, I will not be offered that option. He has all the school blueprints ect on it. I am trying to play with it when I get a min here and there which is very rare lately.

I don't have experience with the 2002 ed, but either one or two versions before that, whatever was out in the fall of 1999... I can see my reference book in my head but can't remember which version # it was. In first year Engineering we took a course in Engineering Design that was half Autocad. We used it for a different type of application than you though... we used it as applied to the manufacturing side, such as learning how to draw parts that are to be machined to scale with tolerance levels. For instance our big final project was to draw a vice (construct all the various nuts/bolts, side pieces and fit the pieces together and render it). Now 4 years later would I be able to pick up the software and just use it... probably not very well at all, ROTFL... but I do have an idea at least for what it is/how it works. A very complex program capable of so many things!!!

Yes. A few years of experience on different versions in both 2D and 3D...can try to help ...let me know.:)

I have played around with older versions of this. Mostly for hvac/r applications as we have an hvac business. What I remember from the few mini-classes I had was having to learn to draw various shapes with it. It is a tough and as you said, very expensive program.
If you are serious about it, you need a class. They can be had at vo-tech schools. Also my dh's union offers classes on-line and in person I think. He has been thinking about really learning it and doing some private consulting with his hvac knowledge coupled with auto-cad.

Thanks guys. :) lilboo, as I continuing tinkering with it I may indeed take you up on your offer :) I might also check with our Local Community College and see if they offer something in the evenings as you suggested Tiggeroo...Again. Thank you for the responses.

<font color=navy>We use Microstation where I work. Similar to autocad, but no cigar. :)
