I'm thinking of getting one but the idea of an air mattress on the floor for guests doesn't thrill me. But I can't go get a sofabed right now.

Do you like them? Are they high enough off the ground? Could I put it on a frames?

Can I eat them with a goat, can I eat them on a boat?

They make some that you can buy that has a frame they also make them double thick so it would be like an air mattress on top of an air mattress. The plain old regular ones are just an air mattress on the floor but a little thicker.

I don't like them. I've slept on two. Granted neither one of them was mine so I don't know how well they were taken care of. But both of them would lose air in the middle of the night and we'd be lying on the floor by the time morning came around. Never will I sleep on one again. I will pay for a hotel room.

I have one for when my dd has some of her friends sleep over and there's to many to sleep in her room. Anyway, I never slept on it, but, according to my dd and her friends, there comfortable. But, kids will sleep on anything, just to sleep over someone elses house. Check out either qvc.com or hsn.com, one of those home shopping channels have it. It's the one thats higher off the floor, so you don't feel like your laying on the ground....

We have one and it works great. It is pretty high off the floor and in my opinion more comfy than most sofa beds.
Oh and you can eat it with a goat you can eat it in a boat
You can eat it here or there
you can eat it anywhere

The goat will love the aerobed!! My parents have a raised aerobed that DH and I sleep on when we go camping in their 5th wheel(when we don't want to bring our own TT down). It is very comfortable an keeps it's air just fine. We had an old single height aerobed for years when we would visit DH's cousins it put up with lots of kids jumping and walking on it, plus "riding" it up and down was a lot of fun. The pump had a slow leak and we called areobed(after taking the pump apart and finding the broken piece) and they sent a replacemnt part out for free(many years after original purchase). Don't buy a cheep air mattress, it just won't make you as happy.

Ours is a double height, queen sized and I got it at Wal*Mart in the camping area. I want to say its a coleman and paid less than $40. The one bad thing is that it can get hot at night so have a fan nearby. Its also impossible for queen sheets to fit. We have a set of king size sheets. Not the best answer but it works.

My DS has slept on one in a boat,
he has not eaten them with a goat. :teeth:

Seriously, my folks have one that they use when we come down to FL to stay with them. Even at age 7 DS could not sleep on the sofa bed in their FL house. They bring it home with them in the summer, and he had a sleepover on their boat a couple of weeks ago, and used it again. He loves sleeping on it.

I think the actual AeroBed name brand are quite well made and hold up well if taken care of, and that's what they have.

DH has had a couple of naps on it, and says it's comfortable.

My parents have one for guests (us) and it's great. We don't mind, and it's much more comfortable than a sofa bed.

My son is coming in for 2 weeks (with fiancee). We just moved things around and we are putting the basement back to a family room (it was a makeshift bedroom). We plan to put a sofabed down there eventually but can't before they get here. I want them to be comfy without being tacky.

We use t-shirt sheets on ours since they stretch a bit more then regular cotton sheets and that works well.

DH slept on our's for a month before we moved all our junk to our new house. It never had a leak, kept the air in for the entire time.

Select Comfort/Sleep Number is now making a sofa bed that has a Select Comfort mattress. I think that would be a good way to go for a sofa bed.

I have a double high twin aerobed. I use it about every other weekend. I find it much more comfortable than a sofabed. It doesn't leak like other air mattresses. Also twin sheets fit it just fine. I like that I don't have to buy special sheets for the bed. I also like that it is durable. I don't have to be terribly concerned about the cat.

A cat on a airbed. :rotfl:

Our dog loved our airbed. The top of our airbed was pretty thick. I don't think a cat could pop it.

We've got a couple (actual Aerobed brand). They are more comfortable than any pull-out sofa bed I've slept on. As for sleeping on the floor, I slept on a futon for much of college and years immediately afterward, so I never I'm used to sleeping on the floor and don't have a problem with it.

For what it's worth, my futon became a futon/sofa, which makes for a really comfortable bed, but just a so-so sofa.

I agree with those who said AeroBed brand air mattresses are good.
Comfortable, I've never had it lose air during the night and I'd take that over a sofa bed any day. :thumbsup2

it HAS to be the AeroBed brand. Not any old air mattress will do. We had a Colman that we called the deflate-a-bed, by morning you were on the floor. Both my parents have AeroBeds and we have one when we need an extra guest bed. They are pricey but comfortable and the built in pump is worth every penny. They make a raised one that isn't like a mattress on the floor.

Crap....didn't think about the cats! LOL
Our cats and the new kitten(4 mos old last camping trip) have yet to be able to put holes in the areobed it is made of very heavy gauge vinyl. You may have to get deep pocket sheets, upto 17inches I think, but they sell those everywhere so that won't be a problem.

The AeroBed are the best!
we don't even bother with the pullout couch anymore.
it inflates and deflates in 60 seconds, just as advertised!
it's very thick. Our cat will sleep on them.

we have 3 of them. My neighbors borrow when they have
houseguests.
