Touring plan of sorts that they tend to follow for Universal?

How long would it take to get through the Park (Universal Studios). We have one day, and we want to be there when the park opens.

We want to spend time at the Simpsons ride and gift shop (assuming there is a gift shop) and any character meet and greet that we can do Simpson related. That is the purpose of our visit. lol. After that, I Know the kids would enjoy Jaws, and ET and gosh I don't remember what else there is.

Help. LOL

ps: we will be going either on Monday or Tuesday February 6th or 7th. (is Monday better than Tuesday or vice versa?)

I'm guessing you could run naked through the park on a Tuesday in February (aside from President's Week) and it's possible you won't be seen by anyone.

Well if you want to do the Simpsons...I would suggest that you go into US and go to the right. That will make you pass E.T. and then the Simpsons will be right there. We just do the circle and stop and every ride. We have seen the Simpsons characters everywhere! They are sometimes outside the front gate. They also travel the park in their camper! Very cute!!

thanks for the info on the Simpsons!

and for the other poster, so basically in February it is dead there? Does that mean that there are less chances to see characters?

What are "must do's" at universal? And thanks for the advice to just go in a circle. I guess that makes the most sense.

How many hours should we plan to spend?
and why do I keep reading " be there an hour before the park opens". What is the benefit to that??

Unless there's some event or holiday I'm not aware of, the days you're planning to go should have very low crowds.

I can't help with the characters, I don't really go for them so I don't know their schedules/patterns. But I don't see why you'd need to be there an hour before the park opens. 5-10 minutes before the park opens, maybe. You could probably arrive an hour after the park opens and not miss anything.

As for the must-dos, it's different for everyone -- but in addition to the stops on your list, I would definitely do Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit if you like coasters and the Mummy. Fantastic rides.

Must do`s for me......... are The Mummy, RRR, Jaws, ET and Horror Make up Show and according to DH and DS.....MIB.

As for being there and hour before park opens that will be for IOA for Harry Potter I assume not The Studios.

The Horror Make up Show is one of my favorite shows out of all the parks in FL! Revenge of the Mummy is another must do! If you want to do The Simpsons, I would go there first and then just work your way around the circle at Universal and then head over to IOA if y'all are going there. If the Fear Factor show is still there I would check that out also....very cool! Have fun!!!:cool1:

check with guest services to find out when and where for the simpsons characters

I think the "one hour before the park opens" advice is always ridiculous. So you're standing in line for an hour to get on one ride ahead of everyone who has lined up in the hour since? I'd rather be one who gets there five minutes early (or right at opening) and still enjoys the same crowd level as someone waiting for 45 minutes to an hour.

But for Universal Studios, the park will be almost empty at opening. I was there the beginning of February last year and it was great. IOA was great too, but that was before Harry Potter and it was too cold first thing in the morning to really be able to enjoy IOA.

Everyone is right - February should be very dead in the parks. If its in your budget I would suggest getting tickets with Park-to-Park access so you can go to both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. You should have plenty of time to hit up everything you're interested in at Universal Studios and still get to Islands for the highlights there.

Twister, Revenge of the Mummy and MIB are my personal must-dos in Universal Studios. If you hit up Islands as well, be sure to check out the Wizarding World. Some of the best rides over there (IMHO) are Spider Man, the Incredible Hulk and Jurassic Park.

Have fun!!

We were there this past February and had no crowd issues at all. :woohoo: We never waited more than 10 minutes for anything and was able to do everything we wanted in both parks in one day (including WWOHP), with closing at 6 pm. You should have no problems getting your Simpsons fix, multiple times too! :)

10 minutes??? wow what a difference between US and WDW! Thanks for the input. I was worried we were going to miss out on a few things. LOL

WE are only going to do the 1 day. I have enough airmiles to cash in forthe 4 of us to get into US for free, 1 day pass. Maybe if the day permits we can always see if we can upgrade to a two park pass? but I think that the one park will be good. My ds isn't a coaster fan, and my dd is probably too short for a lot of them. So 1 park done in full should be good for us....with time after to go to Downtown Disney. lOL

If you're traveling between US and WDW and are looking to buy a bunch of Disney crap afterwards don't go to Downtown Disney -- go to the WDW outlet right off I-4.

Not as much stuff of course. But a heckuva lot cheaper.

Unless the point of DTD is dinner or something (although, if you're a regular at WDW, you might want to eat at CityWalk instead just to mix things up)...

we will probably do the mears shuttle which is a round trip fare....
we will do DTD because we haven't eaten there before, usually at the resorts or the parks. so to us it will be a bit different....and of course just to get the DTD experience. lol. Thanks for the feedback! (or we may if we are up to it go into one of the parks, whichever is open still then (prob epcot)

Keep in mind that in low season -- like in early Feb -- the WDW parks aren't open very late either. Somewhere between 7 and 9 (and 5 for AK), I think... but you could luck out with an EMH or something.

yep...why it will prob be epcot, if we bother with a disney park that night. (it seems to always close at 9 except for EMH)

plus if universal is as dead as everyone says, we will probably be done well before 6pm. as long as my honey gets his simpsons fix, then we are good. LOL

Of course I'm going Presidents week!!! Is it crowded that week or INSANE? I'm staying in a condo offsite but coming onsite one night. Will I be able to get both parks done in the 2 days during Presidents Week (with FOTL)?

I've never been there during President's Week, nor would I ever wish to go then... but FOTL should help you to do just about everything. However, it's not available for some of the biggest ones -- Forbidden Journey in IoA and Rip, Ride Rockit at US -- so expect some waiting.
