I had a wonderful chocolate cookie a few years ago that was delicious- but have never been able to find a recipe for it. It was all chocolate (a nice chewy cookie, I think you roll them into balls before you bake them) with a marachino cherrie on top and then chocolate frosting drizzled on top of that.

Has anyone here ever had them- and if so- do you have the recipe???

THANKS EVERYONE!

do you mean the chocolate covered cherry cookies?

Chocolate-Covered Cherry Cookies

Recipe By :Lynn
Serving Size : 48 Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : Cookies

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup margarine -- softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
10 ounces maraschino cherries
6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

In a large bowl stir together flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder and baking soda.
In a bowl beat together margarine and sugar on low speed of mixer until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, beat well. Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Beat until well blended.
Shape dough into 1" balls.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press down center of dough with thumb.
Drain cherries, reserving liquid. Place a cherry in center of each cookie.
In a small saucepan combine chocolate pieces and sweetened condensed milk. Heat until chocolate is melted. Stir in 4 teaspoons reserved cherry juice.
Spoon about 1 teaspoon frosting over each cherry, spreading to cover cherry. (Frosting may be thinned with more cherry juice).
Bake 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove to wire rack. Cool.

NOTES : I only use a half cherry in each cookie.

i used frozen bing cherries and used the thawed juice in place of the marichino cherry juice. i hope this is what you are looking for.

that is a great recipe. I got it from my cousin, Lynn over 35 year ago. It is the one recipe my son requests every year.

(I'm the one that uses the half cherry ;) )

I made these last night and they are definetly the cookie I was talking about. Thanks again! It will now become a part of my Christmas cookie regulars!
