John-Cole got a Playstation 2 for his birthday but now hes hinting at wanting an X-Box. Does anyone have both? Since he really hasn't asked for anything particular for Christmas an X-Box isn't out of the question.....Hes 11 and thats what 11 year olds do...LOL!

Also whats the game system that Nintendo has now? Which is best? Any advice would be great!

We have both. I can't comment from experience, 'cuz I never use either one, but the general consensus in our home is that x-box rules graphics-wise. We have both systems hooked up to the bigscreen because there are still playstation 2 games that the guys prefer.

I learned a long time ago, when you live in a house full of men, the quest for electronics is never-ending.

Ain't that the truth:) I actually love playing Kingdom Hearts and Disney Racing myself...but looks like X-Box is a big possibility.

The Nintendo system is the Game Cube. My boys got one for Christmas last year and they love it. My mom bought them an X-box for this Christmas. :)

Amen to the never-ending quest for electronics. Its the same way here!

DS has xbox that he got last year for Christmas. He is asking for PS2 this year for Christmas. Although I would LOVE Kingdom Hearts, I cannot bring myself to get this new system for him. He chose xbox last year when choosing between both and that is what he will live with. I cannot have PS, N64, XBOX, and PS2 in one playroom! There comes a time when too much is too much in our home, IMHO! I am just a mean ole mom, at least that what I hear all the time!:D

I have both.

I really like the Xbox, but I love the PS2. The Xbox will allow you to save mp3s to it & soon you'll be able to use them in games, which means you can create your own soundtracks for games. :)

DH purchased the X-Box for his birthday a few months ago, and we're getting PS2 for Christmas (sshhh! it's a secret!)...solely so we can play the Kingdom Hearts game. According to DH's extensive research (he's an anal engineer who does spreadsheets comparing EVERYTHING!), X-Box is the best graphic-wise, etc....the best choice for my 30-year-old DH since the games are geared towards much older kids (DH is 30 :) ). The Ninetendo Game Cube would be our choice if we were purchasing for a younger child, since this system seems to have to most kid-friendly and younger kid appropriate games.

I ditto the statement from ryanpatricksmom...we have a giant Rubbermaid container full of every possible video game system and assorted games. Our 3-year-old DD is officially a more talented player than her dear old mom!

Humm.....how are the two free games you get with the X-Box bundle? I saw the jet ski game, J.C. would love that.

We just won an Xbox... yes, won it. MY daughter won a raffle at an incredible store.

Yes, she's 5 years old, but she loves it.. mY soon to be eight year old is in LOVE with it as well.

Personally we were going to go with a PS2 for Christmas, but since the Xbox presented itself..

Ok, the two free games we have are Sega GT 2002/3? (its a car racing game very very similiar to Gran Turismo/ Playstation) and Jet Set Radio Future... its a futuristic Japanese animation game with rollerbladers, tricks, and fun and funky beat, and graffiti.. its a little bizarre for us adults, but my kids like it.. and can play it for a while.

comparing the PS2/Xbox.. is hard to do. The Xbox, has a faster speed, larger hard drive, and the XBox Live cababilities, is different than any other things...plus it plays DVDs.. we didn't have a DVD Player, so we bought the adaptor. We don't have any DVD's so I can't tell you how the adaptor works..

The graphics are really good... some may say the titles are not appropriate for the younger set. But with your son is older and some games are more appropriate..

We are going to buy the Spiderman one for our son for Christmas, and we have the Crash Bandicoot.

I am more than happy with it.. a) it was FREE b) it has the cababilities to grow with the kids c) it is good for even my husband.

The graphics are so much more realistic than with the PS.

You have to have an adaptor for the DVD to work? We didn't have to have that for the Playstation 2 I don't think. How much was it?

Yes, the adaptor and the remote was an extra cost. We didn't have a problem paying for it, since we won the system itself.

I think we got ours for $24.88 on sale at Target yesterday. We were going to do Ebay or www.half.com, but decided to go with Target since it was closer.

No, the PS2 has no cost for the actual playing of DVD's but if you want a remote, I think its about $20 or so.

I got the X-Box bundle a few weeks ago for DS birthday in December. The DVD adaptor retails for about $30.00 but I found a sale at Best Buy that discounted it by 25%. I'm noticing other stores offering discounts on accessories as the holidays approach. I was also told by the guys in the Target electronics dept to keep my eyes out for games to be discounted...they're trying to clear out space for the newer releases. I picked up one for $25.00 and it listed at $49.99 not long ago.

Yes, I noticed that some X Box games were as low as $19.99 at Best Buy, some were $22.99.

I am going to scope out for Black Friday sales.

I've noticed that Kmart had some on sale as well.
We could use another controller, but right now the family is learning how to take turns.

We have PS2 not Xbox and we are really happy with it. we are big kids...have no little kids. We both like to play.

Kingdom Hearts is hands down the best game I have ever played. I am sad because I am at the very end of the game.:(

Same here, Disney Kim. How long will it take for them to finish KIngdom Hearts 2?? I love this game!

I refurbish video games forElectrinics Boutique, so i a familiar with all the systems. We have PS@ and N64 at home, but my DS would LOVE to have xbox, but he was also given the choice and went with the PS2 last yr, and he won't be getting another system anytime soon. Xbox graphics are deffinetly the superior.

Well just got back from Wal-Mart and got the X-Box Bundle an extra controller, the memory card and the DVD converter thingy....We also bought him Artic Thunder and will look at the Black Friday sells for games that are on sale. We also got him a new Mongoose Bike so besides a few more games and stocking stuffers he is set.
