I saw one on QVC the other day its a Denise Austin manual treadmill and it folds up. Was wondering how they work, it looked great on TV. It was around $150.00. I do not have the space and money for a great big one but did not know how the manual ones work.

Thanks a lot!

Got my at Sears about 10 years ago and it stills works great.Don't know the size of the one you were looking at, but even though mine folds up it still is quite large and takes up some space.

I had a manual one for about 8 years. I hated it. I used it when I had to, but dreaded it.

I just got a motorized one a couple months ago and I absolutely love it! I jog 3 miles, 7 days a week, so if the weather is bad, I can do it on there, something I couldnt do on the manual one. Plus I try to walk on it for 35 minutes 5x /week too. Its so much more enjoyable and I feel Im gettign the workout Im looking for, which I didnt feel on the manual one. This motorized one folds up nice and easy, isnt too big, and wasnt too expensive either.
:D

I have one. It works fine for the money. My heart rate gets up and my legs get tired.

I like the ones at the gym better though

I have one....hate it!

It folds up but still takes room.
It is a lot of work!! ;)
I wanted to not spend too much money and just go for a walk...but it is a hard walk!! It is slightly inclined and boy, it makes you work! Not what I wanted at all....so it never gets used.
Come on over and you can take it ;)

I had one, didn't use it much. Too many distractions at home to try and exercise there and I just wouldn't think about using it most of them. The most exercise I got out of it was moving it from one room to the next, trying to find the perfect location for it where I would remember to get on it.

The one thing that was nice about it was our little boy was able to use it, supervised of course. Since he controlled how fast it went, he was able to get on it and burn some of that energy he had overflowing from his little body.

We've since sold it in a yard sale to an older man who thought it would be safer for him to use too.

Again, it worked great (it was a Jane Fonda version), I just prefer to get out of the house to walk. When I'm at home I get a phone call, a kid who wants a toy off the top shelf of the closet, laundry that needs to go in the dryer, the dishes need loaded, on and on.

I bought one last year from QVC, it wasn't Denise Austin, but it was manual. I HATED it, sent it back on the 28th day. I would think hard, if you don't like it, you will be charged $15-20 just to send it back, QVC will only cover the return shipping if product is defective/broken. Now, I go to Curves and I love it!

I run with a local club. Great incentive, social chats as I work out. Loads of local races (which I come in bottom half of) but lovely atmospheres and brilliant fun.

I've run miles and miles including two halves, but can't motivate myself to do more than 10 mins on a treadmill.

Whatever you do make sure you get good running shoes. Thats very important.

We have a Sport-tech treadmill that is about 12 years old. I think they are out of business now, but when we got it, it was the highest rated manual treadmill by Runner's World.

I don't like it because you are literally running on rollers, like a bunch of rolling pins under the tread.

I prefer the ProCor motorized treadmills at our health club much better.

But in a pinch, I still use our Sport-tech. I ran 30 minutes Sunday, Monday, and last night on it.

Wow, seems like not many like manual treadmills:(

I was looking for something not expensive, I have a current memebership to Curves which I do not go to:( I was going last summer and it KILLED my ankles, they were always swollen, it was terrible.

I just figured if I did 20-30 minutes a day while we are watching TV after my son goes to bed it would be better then nothing.
