Does anyone have a Kodak EasyShare digital camera?

Well, I talked to DH about the camera and he has already ordered that exact one for me for my birthday :o . He got the camera, a travel kit that contained a charger, an extra battery, and a case, and a 512 MB memory card. It should be here by next week :D .

We got a 4330Dx 3.1 MP and DW really likes it..I'm the camcorder person & she's the camera person...
Got it at Best Buy and got the 4 year extended warranty(We actually got this when we had a problem with my Minolta Freedom--the warranty from it let us have a $300 credit--the price of the Minolta Freedom when it was new):D

I have had a DX 4330 3.1 mp for about a year and a half now with a dock. I had a softwear problem a few months ago, but I simply reinstalled from the CD and all has been well since then. Very easy to use.

I do not have a Kodak but anytime I see threads or articles on Kodaks and the docks, I have always wondered what the value of a much more complicated, large and costly item as the docks are over a $20 card reader, like from Sandisk or many others. I use a reader, I think most others do also. What does a dock do additionally??

I do not have to take the card out, just place the camara in the dock and push a button and it sends the pictures into the 'puter. The dock also charges the camara batteries.

Okay, please forgive my ignorance but I don't have any digital camera experience :D . I can still download the pictures off of the card with just the camera, can't I? My understanding was just that the dock makes it easier to do so? Do I need a "card reader"?

My parents have that camera and love it. And believe me, if my mom can use ANYBODY can!!!
A few years ago I bought a digital camera and thought I was getting the best one I could. I Mistakenly took the advise of some teenyboppers at BestBuy and spent way too much. I like my parent's camera so much more and it's a couple hundred dollars cheaper than mine was. I keep hoping it will break or DH will lose it or something! ;) He got mad at me when I asked for a new camera last Chrismas!

Dan...the dock can be used to move pics from the camera to the computer. I only use my dock for battery charging. Lou bought a portable SanDisk card reader and I use that to get the pics of my card.

To whoever asked what software I use.....I basically store all the pics in a folder on my desktop, and for editing I use Microsoft PhotoDraw or MGI Photo Suite, or a combination of both.

I agree with Dan, I recommend a card reader..saves wear and tear on the camera....

I'm curious, what have people done with their Kodak digitals that quit working,

throw them away, keep them...???

I see. It just sems like a big contraption to have taking up room. The card reader, smaller than an egg, is laying next to my monitor (on my laptop, I have a card reader card in the slot) and for charging battery, I just take it out and snap in the little wall charger, like a night light. I have an extra in my camera bag for travel. When I am working on pics, my camera is away in the bag, just the little reader can hardly see it, and no camera.

I do use Adobe Photo Album, Adobe Elements and MS Digital Pro.

I have two Kodak EasyShare cameras. The most recent one is the LS753. I love this camera. The older one, my mom and DD share. When I bought the first one a couple years ago, I got the printer dock. I love the printer dock! It has come in very handy when I've needed to print out a picture right away. Now the regular dock for just charging and transferring pics I personally think is a waste of money. When I need to transfer pics to the computer, I just plug in the little cord that came with the camera and away it goes. Very simple and easy. I however am in the minority because I like the Kodak EasyShare software. I think it's easy to use and have never had a problem with it. The new camera has many more features and is much smaller and seems to be easier to use. Like I said, I love it!!

Lots of people seem to hate the EasyShare software, but I have a slightly different question. I have the DX6340, and from time to time I have trouble uploading pictures to my computer. I plug the camera in and turn it on and it blinks like it should, but my computer isn't seeing it for some reason, so the pictures obviously aren't transferring. This has happened once or twice before, but I restarted my computer and it was fine. This has been going on for about a week now. Anyone experience anything similar?

My bf has an Easy Share (actually this is his second because he wore the first one out!) He often has troubles with the software. Sometimes it just stops recognizing the camera, and the only way to fix it has been to uninstall the software and reinstall it again.

We have an Easy Share, ok, I'll admit I have NO IDEA which one!!! (it's not here). Anyway, I plan on taking it to Disney and downloading my pics to our laptop each day. How then can I print them? (without using my very expensive to use little kodak printer) I know this sounds dumb, but I have no clue what to do. I like to just take my card to Wal Mart and print.

What does everyone do?

The dock both reads the card and also charges the battery. You can hook the cable up directly though and not use the dock for card reading but you would need to buy a charger if you forgo the dock. I got a good deal on my camera which came bundled with the dock so I did purchase both but if I were buying them seperately I would not get the dock and buy a cheaper recharger. It just doesn't seem any better than a charger/card reader.

DH gave me the DX7630 yesterday for my birthday. I have had a lot of fun with it today! I am considering buying the dock, but may not after seeing what has been written here.

My best friend had a 4 MP Easy Share and it stopped working after about 6 months. She had bought the extended warranty from Best Buy and returned it last week. They gave her a new camera - a 5 MP one. She also had the problem where it would just not turn on. I wonder what Kodak will do to correct this.

I was the OP to this thread and I just want to say that I love my Kodak Easy Share ::yes:: !

Lori S.,
What I have done to print my pictures so far is upload them to a photo processing site and and order them. I used www.winkflash.com and was very pleased with the quality. Right now their pics are 16 cents per print with a flat shipping rate of 99 centts per order. Very cheap and they came in about three days.

I know you can also take your card to Walmart and print them there but it costs a little more (not sure exactly how much).

The only thing that I don't like about our Kodak is the lens cap! I prefer the clam shell type closer over the shutter. It seems that I am either knocking the lens cap off or forgetting to put it back on. I don't like the "eye lid" type lens cover that I have on my Pentax 35 mm. either. It is "stuck open" which is better than stuck closed but I can't get a cap to fit it and it isn't worth fixing.
