Hi all,
I am wondering if anyone here has a heart arrythmia and/or has had rf catheter ablation performed. I have psvts and had an ablation a year ago, it worked for a few months and then the irregular heart beats came back. I don't take any meds for it currently, although I think I'll probably eventually have to again if it worsens. Anyone here have any experience w/ this?
Thanks,
wendy

Hi poohandwendy~

I have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and about 1 1/2 yrs ago my heart started going out of rhythm all the time. It was horrible. My heart would race so fast that I couldn't catch my breath and felt like I would pass out. It would beat 180-190 minute! My doctors discussed ablation but they wanted to try some meds first. After many tries of different meds, I finally found the one that worked for me---Rhythmol!

It's made all the difference. No more running to the hospital so I could have my heart zapped back into the correct rhythm. I take a huge dose but it sure has done the trick.

From what I understand, a lot of times the meds will only work for so long and eventually ablation is usally needed. I am surprised the docs didn't try some meds for you but I am not familiar with your exact condition.

What does you heart do when it is out? Fast or slow? Sorry you are having problems with it. I sure know how awful it can be.

I'll be happy to chat with you about it anytime! Just let me know if there is anything I can do.

Julie

Here's a really good resource that you might want to check out: http://www.medhelp.org/
There are forums on all sorts of diseases/conditions.
The questions in the Heart Forum are answered by doctors from the Cleveland Clinic Heart Center, which is a well known heart clinic.
