Deb - I refrained from replying to your thread a couple of days ago because even seeing the words (blood pressure - say it quietly) fills me with absolute dread

. I suffer from hypertension and - being White Coat Phobic (WCP) - is THE worst thing. Just thinking about going to the doctors for my check ups makes me
.
The more nurses/doctors I have to see, the higher it goes.
After I'd had Katie, they duty registrar refused to let me go home for 6 days because my consultant was away for a long weekend and she "refused to take the responsbility that something might happen to me". Fair enough, but like all the other nurses and doctors tried to point out . . . I'm WCP and therefore the longer I'm in, the worst it gets because I had to keep having my BP checked. The morning my consultant finally returned it was through the roof - and he turned around and said he wasn't surprised cos I'm so scared of hospitals - and sent me straight home where, when the doc and the midwife checked over the following days, it was fine.
So it may be that you're worrying about it, therefore it's raising without you even knowing.
Ask your doctor if he can provide one of the monitors that you're attached to for a min period of 24 hours - that usually settles it, because you're relaxed after a time with it on and your BP returns to normal.
Keep smiling, anyway
