Does anyone go to the water parks in the Winter?

We are going to Disney World end of Dec. through Jan. 4th. This will be our 4th trip to Disney and we have never done a water park.

If it is a warm sunny day I was considering it this year. Are
the water areas heated? Do you freeze? Are these really
dumb questions?

I have been in Dec, and it just depends on the weather. If you go in the heat of the day of fcourse that's better. I do not believe the water parks are heated but iI could be wrong.

I don't think those are dumb questions since I've been wondering the same thing! We'll also be there in late December and my kids really want to go to Blizzard Beach. As far as I know the water is heated, so if the day is warm, I think we'll give it a try. Of course, we're from New England so we are used to VERY cold Decembers - we're hoping Florida is a pleasant change!

It depends on the weather. The water is heated but the concern is the air temperature. We're from Maine so we try to go each trip. Many winters we've been fine but one year it was so cold that even us Mainers didn't go (we had our winter jackets on one night). My best trip was to Blizzard Beach some year on December 31. It was drizzly but warm (high 70's is plenty warm for us) so not many guests chose to do a water park. It was great - no lines. We were exhausted after two hours because of all the stairs we climbed in a short period of time! If the weather is nice, go for it.

We spent a lot of time in pools in the winter here. It was funny to use because you could tell who the Florida residents where. They were huddled under blankets or dressed in long pants, where the guests were in and out of the pool.

There were times the temps were in the high 70's. The pools are heated so it is the walk back to your room that was refreshing. We just walked fast.

South Texas so I don't do cold too well, but DD age 7 would
swim everyday if she could.

We were there Jan 2000 and the temp was about 80 every day except our last day there and we did do Typhoon Lagoon. I think the water was pretty warm, but I can't remember.

Just to add that they will do refurbishings of the water parks during the off season, which includes the winter months. There will be one open but maybe not the specific one you have your heart set on.
We were the same way as many of the replies above...being from Northern Illinois, 70 degree days in january when we left behind 20 below zero days....come on! That's toasty.....we used our resort pool most--My DS and DD didn't want to give up a Park day for a Water Park day. But we still went swimming.

I fondly recall swimming at Typhoon Lagoon over our millenium trip. And I also recall swimming at OKW in December 2001.

Of course, we're from New England, so anything above freezing during that time of year was pure bliss
