Does anyone get aggravated with all the board abbreviations?

'BF' can mean boyfriend or best friend. 'DS' can be son or sister. You can imagine how some people's stories can seem a little "twisted" with a different interpetation of what 'S' means. Also some people use DD2 to mean their second daughter and others use it to mean the daughter is 2-years-old. I was shocked when a woman had DD2 still in an infant carrier. I read it as age 2. When I read it again I figured she must've meant daughter #2. It drives me

Sometimes I have to read over things a couple of times when there are a lot of abbreviations. I remember one time when someone was talking about their DF meaning Dear Fiance and I was reading it as Dear Father and it wasn't something appropriate to be saying about your father, if you know what I mean . I figured out what she meant eventually .

It really drives my DH (Dear Husband ) crazy when he reads over my trip plans and they are filled with Dis short hand. AK, RFC, MVMCP and so on. He gets very confused .

I think the only ones I use are DD and DH. And the IL's. The rest I type out.

Yesterday DH was reading over my WDW plans and asked what MNSSHP was. DUH!

Yes, I must say I have to agree with you 100%. I am not on the boards enough to have the lingo downpat, so half the time I am clueless as to what people are really talking about! I am happy now that I know I am not the only one!!!

MNSSHP=Mickey's Not SO Scary Halloween Party (I only know this because we are going. )

It becomes even more confusing when there are acronyms with multiple meanings

Ex:
CP could be Candlelight Processional, it could be Crystal Palace, or it could be the WDW College Program, or it could be used to refer to someone who is ON the college program (ex: "Yes, I'm a CP")

I find it strange because I don't really go around calling my husband, children, parents, anybody.............. dear husband.........dear son...........dear daughter etc.

I find that I can not bring myself to use the DIS abbreviations and do type them out in full all of the time.

But usually I can follow what other people are saying when they use them. Some of them puzzle me for awhile

Its really sad when you find yourself using the "lingo" in your everyday life. I don't know how many times I will say, her DH or her DD when talking to people and they look at you like you have lost your mind.
