Does anyone ever get sick?

What's the best way to keep from getting sick? Don't go to Disney World at this time of year...it is a cesspool for germs! (Of course I'm just kidding...well, only with respect to the part about not going...the germ thing is true!)

<<I grew up in an era -- or maybe it was just my family, me being the youngest of six -- where we didn't worry so much about it. Sure, we got sick. But we also got dirty and didn't stress over it. Growing up, we were all exposed to countless germs -- playing with our friends -- that probably should have killed us ten times over! But they didn't. My theory is that this exposure strengthened our immune systems, so we rarely got sick and when we did it wasn't so bad.>>

I agree with jbrowna and we very rarely get sick, mild head cold that is about it. Yes, we wash our hands, etc. But do not use antibacterial anything. Where as my sister, using antibacterial everything and her kids are always sick. My DS 11 had strep throat once, that is the only day of school he has missed due to illness.

My wacky theory - we keep our heat very low in the winter. Germs would freeze to death in my house. :santa:

I agree with all of the above. We wash using soap, but no antibacterial anything. I really think that overuse of anti-bacterials and anti-biotics weakens immune systems thus making people more susceptible to becoming ill.
:) We also keep our heat very low in the winter. :)

I know that being sick on vacation stinks! But I agree with the people that say go if at all possible. Our first trip to WDW started with us waking up with a DD with a 103 fever. We were suppose to begin our car trip that day. Since it was a Saturday, I called her doctor and he met us in his office. She had strep! He gave her a prescription and we finally decided to go and chance it. Well after a two day car ride she was pretty much back to normal. We just took it easy for a day and had a fabulous two week vacation. If you encounter any difficulties, Disney really knows how to take care of medical issues. I had an allergic reaction to clams in Cape May Cafe a few years ago and I was off to Celebrations Hospital in mere minutes.

We swear by Airborne! We start taking it a couple days before a flight right along with our multi vitamin etc. Then we take it three times the day we fly, and each day we are at WDW. We started doing this a couple years ago after each of us got sick from all the "sickies" on the plane.
