does anyone ever bring sm. umbrellas for sun?

I was thinking about small, compact umbrellas mainly for like a parade if we couldn't get a shadey spot. Does anyone do this. I remember I did this for a fourth of July parade at home one year and it was great to not have the blazing sun beating on you. Thanks.

Although I've occasionally seen this it doesn't seem to be a practical idea. If there is the least breeze they don't hold up. The person using them has to be constantly aware of them so that they don't injure other guests. And they have the potential to unnecessarially interfere with the ability of guests nearby to see things like signs and entertainment. A hat seems to be the better option.

I agree it would be cool to be able to have one but I would be worried about people running into it or me hitting someone one with. seems more trouble then it's worth. A nice sun hat might be helpful and don't forget to stop at walmart and pick up one of those little personal fans, I used them last August and they worked great. They cost like a $1.50 at walmart.

I have used one in the parks wearing a sun hat too.

I had people asking to use it LOL, that it was a good idea.

It helps when you are holding a child and you want them out of the sun, but are not near a shady spot.

p.s. I am a very courteous person and would always check to see if I was bothering anyone.

Blocking others' views might be a problem at a parade. Just wear a hat and use some sunscreen.
