get skeeved out in hospital waiting rooms?:scared: I'm sitting here waiting for my son to get done with some tests and I feel phobic. I wish I could wrap some bubble pac around me:eek: I just know something is waiting to hop on me:headache:

Not a waiting room experience but just hospital one...
My uncle is a nurse in an ER. DD#1 had really, really bad croup last Jan and her ped. told us to take her to the ER.

We took her to the hospital the ped told us (also the one uncle works at) to. I was absolutely fine with the whole situation until my uncle came to visit and looked at her stuffed dog with her and said, "do you know how many people have died in this room, have come in here with contagious diseases...etc..."

:scared1: I almost pooped myself and put her stuffed dog in my pocketbook to be bleached.

Ooooh yeah. When dd15 had the shingles, there were two people in the waiting room with the stomach flu. They were both running to the bathroom every 15 minutes, and taking drinks out of the water fountain. I had to go to the bathroom, but I was NOT going in there.

Okay, What does "skeeved" mean? Never heard of it.

Hospitals in general give me the heebie-jeebies. In fact, just going to the doctor's office gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Last year when DH had kidney stones, I was sitting in the waiting room and these people were in there waiting to hear about a family member. They had a pizza delivered to the waiting room and all started eating the pizza. No plates..just picking it up and eating it. Then one went to the bathroom to get some paper towel to wipe their hands with.

It was really weird. I guess I was too busy with that to pay attention to any germs I might catch.

Mmmwwwaaaahhhhhh! There ARE things in there waiting to jump on you. :cool2:

What? No pictures of what skeeves you?:confused3

When my DH had sleep apnea surgery in July and could've died, I wasn't all that worried about germs (although I do have anti-bacterial lotion in my pocketbook).

When DD was in the room and we were bored (probably like Cantw8), we started thinking of germy type stuff. I didn't think of her dog "catching" germs, though. I know we kept DD from touching much of anything in the room, and we just tried to watch tv. I was actually ok, until my dear uncle came in and gave me a freakin heart attack. At that point I didn't even want to breathe the air.:rotfl:

At our local hospital, you'd be fine. I've had to take my DD to the emergency room a couple of times in the past years and I had to go in once. There are people going there for sore throats and runny noses!! In other words, they know they won't get turned away so this is where they come for primary health care. In the meantime, people come in with huge cuts or from falling off the roof of their houses and they have to wait a bit instead of being seen right away.

anything you can catch in a hospital waiting room, you can also catch at the grocery store, mall, BMV, whatever....

I'm feeling clammy just thinking about it. :crazy2: I hate hospitals. :crazy2:

awwww, they were eating pizza????? Yeah, I know I can get cooties anywhere but all these thoughts of germs and disease and bodily fluids just hit me and I started to freak:scared1: Not to mention, there was this sweet little old lady who just would not stop talking. The whole 2 hours I was in there, she didn't stop once:rolleyes1 I wanted to to take a cheese grater to my brain:rolleyes:
