DOes anyone else think that the nightime parades and shows are overrated?

This is the point I was making. Disneyland staff has to figure out how to make these events not so inconvenient for people who are not interested in them.

But really what can they do? The times of the parades/fireworks/Fantasmic are listed on the Times Guide. So if it says that RDCT is playing at 9:25pm then that should be a clue to avoid Main Street and the hub at that time if you don't want to deal with the crowds. Same with Fantasmic, if the Times Guide shows it plays at 9:00pm, avoid that side of Frontierland, Adventureland, NOS and trying to get to Critter Country.

The Crowd Control CMs do a wonderful job guiding people quickly and safely where they need to go.

Yeah, it sucks having crowds and trying to dodge them, but really the only way for Disney to resolve that issue is not have any entertainment.

You're right. I'll just plan on riding It's a Small World. Ooops, wait a minute. That attraction closes during the nightime parades. Well, how about Peter Pan or Snow White. Wait a minute, all of the attractions near the castle are closed off for the parade and fireworks. Can I go to Toon Town? No, it closes before dark.
I can't cross mainstreet into Adventureland because of the parade, so I'll go through Fantasyland to Frontierland, no that won't work because of closures due to Fantsmic. I can stay in Tomorrow land and wait 2 hours for each ride because no one can get anywhere else, and the fastpass reservations are all taken up for the night. .

Why does the whole park have to be impacted by nightime entertainment? Gee, I really love a parade!

I too could live w/o the parades and such. Seen Fantasmic twice, years ago, first show. 2yrs ago caught the second show for a little while. (can you say 'ghost town',sure you can):rolleyes1
I miss cruising the Mark Twain at night.:sad1:

I like the shows, but I won't wait two hours for them. I rarely get vacation time and the time I do get off is very limited, I'd rather be doing rides than waiting hours on a parade spot. So yes, I will stop and see a parade or show if I have the time, but I will not wait hours among a crowd to see one.

This is also the reason I always go to Disney in the off season. Its easier to navigate the crowds and get a decent seat, and the visitors are not as rude and pushy (I swear, it must be the summer heat, drives whole families crazy).

I guess it comes down to what you like about DLR.

To me, the Park is about SOOOO much more than the rides. I LOVE the shows.

Fantasmic, fireworks, Billy Hill and the Hillbillies, Aladdin, the Dapper Dans, and AHH, Disney's Electrical Parade are a huge part of why we became AP holders. When we went to WDW, we planned our trip around which shows we could see on which days.

To some people it's about checking off all the rides, to others it's about characters, to others it's the entertainment. That's the magic of it... there's something for everyone.
