Does anyone else remember this? 1991...where was Chef Mickey's?

it was where Captain Jack's is now. Chef Mickey came out to the tables at dinner time, but it was a very nice sitdow restaurant.

maybe they didn't have a set schedule of characters. Maybe it changed daily, weekly, or monthly? I remember Tigger b/c we were sitting up on a stage and every time he walked behind us he would hit my mom's pony tail lol.

Yes, they did change characters there all the time. We went one time in the early 90's and we had Brer Fox, Brer Bear, White Rabbit, Goofy, Chip and Dale and Pluto. In those days, you NEVER saw Mickey or Minnie anywhere at meals, just shows.

There was a night when it was SO uncrowded that the characters ran out of people to visit and were wandering around. We asked Brer Fox to sit down at our table and spent about 15 minutes "talking" with him by asking questions and he would nod, shake or use some sort of sign language. He "told" us they were required to be out there a certain amount of time, whether or not people were there. He was grateful to be able to spend time with us. We told him to tell his friends that they were welcome to sit at our table with us, which they all did in succession, after they visited with every other table multiple times if they still had time on their "shift".

Our favorite character meal memory EVER.

Chef Mickey's was where the Rainforest Cafe now stands. We ate there Thanksgiving 1993 and had a traditional turkey dinner. It was not a buffet then. I remember the next time we went, I called to make reservations before hand and didn't know it had moved two weeks before we arrived. Fortunately I found out in time.

They used to serve the best peach cobbler at the DTD Chef Mickey's. We have the recipe and make it at home occasionally. Also, the restrooms near the entrance were the nicest ones at the Marketplace. We always stopped in the jewelry store (even bought a few things) and hit the restrooms even if we weren't planning on going to the restaurant that day. There was a fairly good sized waiting area with seating, and a set of doors that connected to the shops where the Art of Disney store is now. The seating area was a good place to get out of the heat. The jewelry store was down another hall by an exterior door across from where Goofy's Candy Store exits next to RFC. So the building was kind of like an exaggerated L shape.

It seemed like the characters spent more time. I remember Chip (this was at the poly, I don't know where though, not Kona, not Ohanas, it was very cute, sitting down and feeding my sister pancakes. Actually picking the fork up, putting food on it doing the airplane LoL.
And I think the reason we did Empress Lily because it was the ONLY place that had both mickey and minnie for breakfast LOL. Now seems like Mickey is at a lot of the breakfasts (right?)
