Does anyone else overpack for a disney trip?

Oh yes! I too have multiple outfits for each day, various bags, ears, shoes and pj's, lounge wear, swim wear, etc. If we don't have a 1BR it is worse since I can't wash clothes daily. We have 9 nights at BWV in a studio in April/May which will be a packing nightmare! I often ship USPS large one price boxes with the heaviest items like shoes and jeans and some OTC stuff. I always wear jeans and a fleece jacket on the plane no matter the temp so I don't have to pack them. DH makes me stop at 2 carry on bags (overhead) and a large tote and backpack (under the seat) what a whiner!

I could not and would not wear the same sweaty fashionable park outfit to an ADR that evening yikes! And ears and bags have to match, of course LOL!

Our son and DIL are masters of packing less and matching all the above, however they do take advantage of the laundry if they are in a studio when we are in a 1BR. It takes a lot to look good LOL!!

Last year I had 2 new dresses for the MNSSHP but forgot the undergarments, so the extra outfits were a life saver - plus it rained one night and one like being in a dress in the rain.......

I have 2 dresses for this year's parties, but right now rain is forecast so......we'll see.

I also think I've decided to go with 2 smaller bags ('carry on size'). The 1 large bag is over 40 lbs before candy, so not a lot of weight to add there, plus I'm only 5'1" and the 1 big bagis already hard for me to handle. Even if the smaller bags are 40 lbs each they are easier fo rme to handle lol!

I did a weekend off site stay. I thought I packed minimally, but there were still things I didn’t touch. I over estimated on snacks. And clothing. But not too bad. I have 3 shirts and a pair of capris I didn’t wear. And ds has a pair of jeans and 2 shirts he didn’t wear.

We didn’t swim. So swim suits, cover-up, and towel went unused. It rained all day yesterday.

The hotel gave complimentary water bottles and the sweet housekeeper gave me 8 bottles yesterday for ds and I.

I cut down on toiletries. And did a good job there.

Yes yes and yes!
Especially now that my DD is 22.
We both have park outfits, dinner outfits, bumming around outfits, different ears for each day - it’s ridiculous :rotfl:. I love it though and wouldn’t change it for anything.

Our trip is coming up soon, 12 days. I've been thinking about starting to pack. I've always packed "extra"/just in case. Never went overboard when we flew. Now drive to WDW and can pack whatever I want but I still don't go crazy. I like to have back up in case I get stains on something.

Not as much as some but still do overpack a tad. Like another poster I drive down from Georgia so technically I can pack as much as I want. However, I tend to go solo so anything I put in the car, I have to get out of the car by myself. I don't valet park cause I'm too cheap so I don't want to make multiple trips to the car and back. I was there two weeks ago for 6 nights and took a medium sized suitcase that was not overstuffed and I still could have fit more and a backpack. The backpack was really just for my laptop, kindle, meds, and car snacks. I came home with the following I didn't wear/use 3 or 4 tshirts, one pair of shoes, about 5 pairs of undies, at least 4 pairs of socks, 2 sweaters, a couple of ponchos, one small park backpack. In my defense, I thought I would be sweating through more tshirts then I did. It was supposed to rain every day and while it did, it was usually when I was back in my room. I only got caught out in it once and I had a cheap poncho with me. You can never have too many pairs of undies and socks. I took 4 skorts (one I wore on the drive down) and could have gotten by with 3. I had two pairs of sandals and two pairs of tennis shoes. I ended up wearing both pairs of sandals and just one pair of tennis shoes. I always take 2 or 3 disposable type ponchos, one heavier poncho and an umbrella and I always have either a poncho or a poncho and an umbrella with me with I'm in the parks. I'm going back in the first week of December for just 5 nights. December is tough for me because the weather is all over the place. Being from Georgia, anything under 70 requires some sort of outer layer. I'll probably take a few pair of leggings, a couple of skorts, a combo of t-shirts and long sleeve shirts, a hoodie of some sort and a heavier jacket. I've been there that same week in some years and had to wear a hat, gloves, scarf and heavy jacket.
How do you pack all that into a medium suitcase? I use an extra large purple suitcase for 4 days or 10 days, doesn't matter, lol. I always have left over clothes but can't seem to stop myself from overpacking - afraid I just might need that one extra thing, and that one , and that one, lol. Do you hire out for packing large amounts into smaller suitcases :rotfl2:

For our WDW trips we always stayed 7 to 10 days, so I had a lot to pack. I packed a lot of extras because you never know:) We live up North in a cold climate, so I would wear my heavy coat, hat, gloves, and boots to the airport and then leave them to chill, lol, in the car. I took only a light jacket, but even that was usually too much in Florida. I take my extra large suitcase and my husband takes a regular large one. I take a big tote and put my purse and other essentials that I don't want lost in baggage in it. I wear home what I wore on the plane to Florida because it's usually too hot to wear in that heat. I find we have to pack for any weather, no matter what is called for. One time, it was supposed to hot in Florida, so I only had a light jacket. Well, it turned cold and I about froze. I wore my husband's only sweater, bless him, the whole time. I learned my lesson after that and took warm clothes even if not predicted. I remember one poor CM that cold week who stood outside in a huge muffler type long coat and hood and gloves and she was frozen and shaking. That one time was enough for me to overpack with items I didn't think I would need. I always take 2 or 3 pairs of shoes because it does help my feet feel better to switch off, as someone else mentioned.
It's a fun thread to see what others do and know there are other overpackers out there, lol.
I also envy those who can get by with a carryon and backpack. That is awesome, but definitely not me.
