Does anyone else not like Starbucks?

Their coffee tastes bitter to me, I hate it. On the other hand every time I'm at the corner store I have to get a Mocha Frappuccino.

I like it well enough, but I don't understand why they have to buy up all the local places and turn them into more Starbucks stores. They recently bought up a bunch of Barnie's coffee stores here in FL. That bummed me out, because I liked Barnie's too.

Also, I only like Starbucks coffee from Starbucks itself. It tastes very weird and burnt if I try to use their beans in my machine at home. It's weird, because the machine itself came from Starbucks :confused3

pm me if you like and I can give you some pointers on why it might be tasting burnt at home

If you do frequent a SBUX on a regular basis, be kind to those folks working behind the counter. You would not believe the stuff they put up with from customers...

I bet they do - I go once daily, sometimes twice, and I've seen how nasty the people can be to the Baristas.

At the risk of being contradictary.....

It's not plain old coffee....it's probably worse. And, you wouldn't do just as well at home; you probably do better.

FIL was a coffee buyer his entire life and when he retired, he became a coffee grader - at the risk of sounding boastful - he's probably one of the best in the world (he's received awards that say so, LOL; and is compensated quite nicely and requested often and travels the world to do it)....anyway....FIL says Starbucks buys garbage beans and burns the beans so badly what they make shouldn't be called "coffee".

That would be a dream job for me. I'm curious, does your FIL have a particular coffee brand that he recommends?

No one in my family drinks coffee--and my parents don't either. My mom and I always comment when we drive by a Starbucks in the middle of winter and see a line snaking out the door that we feel like we're missing out on something. But coffee isn't our thing, and I don't want to pay that much for a hot cocoa or other fancy drink. So no Starbucks for us.

We don't like Starbucks coffee either. I don't like bitter coffee. I do like their latte and cappuccino but that is about it. We love Caribou coffee. For example, the Costa Rica is a deliciously simple, smooth, medium bodied coffee.

I think some of their drinks are pretty good. I go mostly for their chai lattes or lowfat frapuccinos. However, what I like most about them is the atmosphere. I love being able to meet friends there and hang and talk for as long as we want. It's just so comfortable. Like being in your own home without having to pickup afterwards :teeth: .

Poor Starbucks. It looks like no one wants to say they like SB coffee. I like it. I buy the darkest beans I can get, grind them myself and make it strong. Sumatra and Italian Roast are my 2 favs. They taste like coffee smells. I think I once got a coffee buzz from the dust after I ground some Sumatra coffee beans.

However, I would like to know what the Coffee Grading Father in Law says is a good brand as well. I'd probably drink that too, if available.

I do drink coffee every day but I don't go to Starbucks because I don't know what to order. It's too confusing for me and way too expensive to experiment until I find what I like. I'll stick to my Folgers.

It's just like anything, it's trendy. I would bet a pretty large percentage of their sales is from people who don't like Starbucks, or even like coffee. But these people DO like calling on their cells phones to tell someone "yeah..meet me over here...I'm at Starbucks." They do enjoy walking into the office with a Starbucks cup.

I enjoy a couple of their flavors, but would never drink it on a daily basis- mostky because I'm not paying $4 for a cup of coffee.

They have the best Green Tea. I love to go explore Boston on the really cold days in the winter, I make sure to stop in StarBucks and get a very hot green tea to sip on, it's so good!

I had Starbucks once and it was awful! :crazy2: It's only Dunkin Donuts for me! :thumbsup2

I don't like coffee, so I've never really cared for Starbucks. If I ever get anything there it's because I'm with someone. I'll usually get one of their pastries which is good I guess. :)

I love it! Then again I prefer a strong, robust coffee rather than watered down. :thumbsup2

I love vanilla lattes but there actually coffee is RETCHED! We have a local place called Alterra that makes fabulous coffee but they aren't near enough to stop on the way to work. The expense is also insane to me. I know it's a fancy drink but we stop in and get two drinks and it's 9.00 that's crazy!
