Does anyone else hold onto reservations

Ok I have a question does anyone else hold on to a ressie that they might not use? Since there is three of us I know that is a 30 dollars charge but just not convinced to drop it. :cool1:

While I wouldn't say I hold on to reservations, if there is something I want but can't get, I always book something else until the other shows up. But, if I knew we weren't going, I would cancel ASAP. I am not paying $10 per person for nothing.

Daughters only request was to eat with Lilo and Stich. If they get up early enough on Monday we plan to go but may sleep in. We will be going for sure on Thursday so not sure if I want to let it go.

If you know that you're going on Thursday, why hold onto Monday's ADR and possibly lose $30? I'd cancel it.

Yes. I'm actually double booked in several meal periods over the trip (a few with high-profile restaurants - 2 dinner Ohana on separate days and 1 Bog, most of them are restaurants that don't tend to completely book out until late in the game like Liberty Tree Tavern or Biergarten).

I'd rather NOT do that but the problem is trying to set up the trip during a high profile time (Christmas week) with Disney constantly changing the schedule. Which day is an Epcot day? Which day is an MK day? Monday was originally my Epcot day and Tuesday my MK day so I booked the restaurants appropriately. Then the crowd calendars said MK was going to be FAR less busy on Monday than Tuesday so I switched days - But certain restaurants (Be our Guest) are "fixed" points so my plan is to do morning/afternoon at MK on Monday then dinner at MK on Tuesday. But Be our Guest may interfere with the Wishes time (because last year Disney had it at 8:30 and I set up the reservations for 6:45 just after the castle lighting but this year Disney has Wishes scheduled for 7:30 AFTER the 180+10 RSVP time... ***?! So now I'm trying to switch BoG to Monday or catch an earlier time on Tueday - yeah right... but in the meantime I added another Ohana dinner RSVP to Monday to go with the Biergarten RSVP I already had in case I end up at MK all day on Monday! But it all might switch back if Disney changes the Wishes time so I'm holding onto BOTH RSVPs until I can confirm the times or get the RSVPs the way I want them)

In addition, the 60 day FP is coming up and depending on what I can get FP for this may all change AGAIN!

I have no intention of holding onto the ADRs until the day/week before and plan on freeing up what I'm not using ASAP (Coz I realize I'm "that guy") But I don't see what other options I have to try to ensure a relatively stress free trip when it comes to dining (well stress free for the rest of the family while we're there... I'm front loading all the stress now! :) ) Disney has made this mess of their own accord. They should allow the ADRs and the FP+ at the same time and should do it at 90 days out or even 60 days out. If we're going to be forced to plan our trips this far in advance we need full schedules at the time of planning - Not spoon fed out to us with changes even 30 days out. Until they do, this kind of RSVP "gaming" is going to continue.

Well Said :thumbsup2

No, Disney takes enough of my money! ::yes::

I will drop it as soon as I know I won't need the ADR. Not paying $10 per person for nothing!

No way. Even at 180 days out I only book one ADR per day. I understand why people do it, but I'm not going to. I like to stay in my stress free Disney bubble and keep it simple.

You said Stress Free and Disney planning in the same sentence. Goodness I have lost sleep for months :rotfl2:

I book multiple meals a day because ADR are tough to come by and I need contingency plans until it is determined which park we'll even be in at that time or until what I really want becomes available. (eg I had a Chefs de France for both 5 pm and 7 pm until the 6 pm I really wanted opened up.)

That said, I release as soon as I know we aren't going to use an ADR. There are people who need and want the reservation, and there is no way I am flirting with a 60 dollar no show fee.

Lol...well maybe not completely stress free...

This! :thumbsup2 I have contingency ADRs but once I find what I REALLY want, I drop the other.

Are you actually going the week of Christmas? I just double checked crowd calendars (you had me scared since it is our week too) and Epcot is most recommended on Monday and MK most recommended on Tuesday.
