Does anyone else have a problem with the cost of food for children???

I am not here to flame anyone... my DH and I have a funny story about this issue. When we were planning this year's trip to WDW, we figured out the difference between going in October v. November (DD2.5 turns three 10/26.) was $200 for us. DD also doesn't eat.. but that's another story-- we ended up going in May instead and I swear all she ate the entire week was french fries and apples. I digress...

Well.. DH and I are very very into Karma and the whole "what comes around goes around" vibe... to the point where he goes back to stores when they don't charge him and I have taken money back to the bank because they gave me too much by mistake (they have to have that drawer correct at night... !)

So... we decide that if we do go in November-- we are going to pay the extra $200. It is only $200, right? It's the right thing to do. So... (I SWEAR THIS REALLY HAPPENED).. the VERY next day after we had this conversation, I got a check in the mail for exactly $200! Turns out my old boss paid me for some work I had done for him (I really wasn't expecting to get paid) and it was for $200!

Is that KARMA or what?!?!?!

I honestly believe if you try and live as clean as life as possible-- good things will happen to you in return!

have a great night!

I just got off the phone with disney dinning. I talked to a lady and told her the situation with my daughter. That she was two when I booked it but is now three. "She" told me I would not worry about it. If it was a difference of a year that would be a concern.

What response do you think you’d get if you phoned before your trip and told them:
“My daughter 3 years old – is it okay if I tell the server she’s 2 so I don’t have to pay for her at character meals?”

Heck – while I’m at it, can I also get her into the parks for free?

I’m sure the response would be much different from the consolation you received from the kind CM for act you already committed that Disney can’t do anything about.

Your beliefs are very different from mine. I was taught that lying is a sin. Disney is not a charity – it is a publicly traded company and one of its duties to its shareholders is to maximize profits. Thus, setting a profitable price that the market is willing to bear is not a sin. It’s smart business. The popular restaurants have a limited supply of tables that are regularly fully booked. Disney must strive to attain a price where tables are still full and profits are maximized. Price it too high – then there would be empty tables… too low – potential profits lost.

And, If your daughter starts lying to you, how can you justifiably punish her when you already set the example that it's ok? Such a shame. :confused3

I have no problem with the prices of kid's or adult menu prices. I buy what I want and pay for it, accordingly. If I do not like the choices for my children, I work effectively with the server or menu to find a pleasant and balanced meal. It's not hard at all.

You have wasted 11 posts. Not one thing you have said has changed my mind. Keep posting. I think you are enjoying this. Just a little side note . I just got off the phone with disney dinning. If it was a difference of a year that would be a concern. A couple months is not what they are concerned about. She also said don't loose an ounce of sleep over it. Now I feel so much better. She also laughed when I told her about security taking me out. Her advice was to stay away from the disboard and pose the questions and feedback to them. I think that is a great idea! I've cleared myself with Disney. Lulu, you can rest easier tonight. No crime was commited. THE END! I forgot about the question of using last years mugs this year? Is that also bad?? Seriously, THE END!
OMG! You did not just waste your time on the phone with Disney to try and prove something to us did you!!????!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
This is the funniest thread I have ever read on ANY message board!
Thanks for giggles Tnkrbel!!

I always find it amusing when an OP posts something ridiculous, then the board responds negatively, and THEN the OP decides that 'oh, that's enough, I'm done, THE END'. Umm, sorry, you don't get to decide that.

You can't post about how you are cheating the system, then say 'Don't Flame Me' - it's an open message board, sunshine, and you're getting what's coming to you for lying. Sorry, but you lied. You may feel totally justified, but bottom line is, you lied, then you came here to have us all tell you what a swell thing you did. And we told you you lied. You don't like it, but it's the truth. Oh, you can ask your 'real time' friends, and they'll blow smoke up your fandango, but trust me, they know that you lied, they just don't want to argue with you.

OK, this is really funny now - I got curious by the earlier post & looked at it; not only did she complain in order to get 4 free meals at Cape May, but she did the same thing at 'Ohana. Oh, and then she called WDW back and had them remove the server's tip from her free meal... I guess she also can't afford to tip.

But, though supposedly short on cash-ola (at least to the point where she feels justified in stealing what she wants), she mentions that she has "stayed at everyone [on-property resort] except the campgrounds, and I dont see that happening anytime soon!"

Presumably, while she can afford to stay at the deluxe resorts, she has to steal or complain in order to get free meals. And call back to remove the gratuity, because the server doesn't need the money as much as the OP does.
:dance3:

Just kinda funny; I haven't had any past experience with this particular person before, but this explains a LOT.

Oh my gosh...

It sure does!! :rotfl:

Unless you are Mother Theresa your judgement means NOTHING!!

Wow! I just realized that the only human on earth permitted to make a moral judgment about anything has, as of this writing, been dead about 9 years.

I don't think she would have had much of an opinion about the price of food at WDW and whether or not it's okay to sneak a free meal for a 3 year old at a buffet.

None of us may be "Mother Theresa" but it is one of the ten commandments to not lie. That is not being judgmental, but I do believe that what goes around comes around eventually. So watch out.

No, we have no problems with the cost as we are aware of the price of children's dining ( thanks in part to this very forum ) before we leave home. Would I complain if they dropped the prices? Heck no, but if they don't, I arrive at WDW knowing full well what it will cost me to bring the wee ones to restaurants. If I make the choice to dine at certain TS or buffet restaurants, I can't really squawk, in all honesty, when it comes to paying the bill.

Is it a commandment not to lie? As far as I can tell "thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor" is the closest.

I am not sure that covers lies like "No, you don't look fat in that dress."

"My kid is 2 and gets a free buffet" when they're 3 is kind of sneaky, though.

:woohoo:

if'n i read dis right, all's i gotta do is tell dem i is 2 and i gets free food? dey not gone axe me nuttin bout bein 2 when i gets beer? it not gone mess wif my parole?

I have studied this and it does mean not to lie. Bearing false witness is lying as far as I am concerned. I am not trying to start another debate though. That is just what I have been taught growing up and what I believe. :)

We just came back from Disney. I cannot believe the price they want to charge for a three year old to eat. I refused to pay it and told them she was two. The amount of food she ate would take no profits away from Disney. I payed 29.00 and probably ate 10.00. I also think it is terrible what they charge for a ten year old to eat. An adult price?????? The price of food is out of hand. I don't care if you have money or don't. This is robbery! How many kids eat adult food anyway. Most would eat the food they give out for kids. Sorry but shame on Disney!

Hey I think the food is ridiculous for an adult to eat. Unfortunately it's pretty much the same with most theme parks. Great adventures in NJ is off the hook, cost wise also.

Deleted my comments because I forgot that I decided not to take part in these heated posts. Everyone has their own ideas of right and wrong, and nothing I will say will change anyone's mind.

I've posted this a few times recently... seems to be a popular topic:

Le Cellier offers a 6oz Grilled Steak for children. Coral Reef offers children a grilled chicken breast (not nuggets). Chefs de France offers a fried fish plate for children. Rose and Crown has cottage pie, bangers and mash, fish and chips, and grilled chicken on their child menu. Teppanyaki offers a small stir fry with either chicken or shrimp. Nine Dragons offers sweet and sour chicken. San Angel Inn offers children either a burrito or an enchilada. Marrakesh offers couscous. Spoodles offers Grilled Strip Steak and Grilled Chicken. Flying fish offers fish and chips, grilled steak, chicken breast (again, not nuggets).

I'm pretty thoroughly shocked to see so many choices available for children. Choose your restaurants wisely, and your child will be more than pleased.

Any veggies or salads on the children's menu (I'll take a look on all ears). I'm so glad my 2 year old can eat off my plate. I'll order healthy and let her eat to her heart's content from mine! :)

I read this Quote on another post :

"Life would be easier, nicer, less stressfull, and a heck of a lot cleaner if all people would respect others rights and the enviroment around them. Following the rules in place is the first step toward that goal. It's that simple, it really is!"

This is the way I have tried to live my life and teach my children by my example.

I have 4 children. They are grown now.
Our 2 sons who are 32 and 25 graduated from college with business degrees. They own their own business and are doing very well. Our oldest daughter, a collage grad also is in her 30's works for a Detroit radio station handling sales in national advertising. Our youngest daughter who is 22 will graduate in December with a double major in business. She works for the Salvation Army in fundraising. She is in charge of contacting businesses and asking for donations, setting up auctions and getting radio hosts to donate their time such as hosting at a fundraising classic car show and fair. This weekend she and I are going shopping to buy some new back to school outfits for underprivileged children.Even though my children are grown and doing well my job has not ended. I have a grandson who is 4 now and I will teach him by my example just as my oldest daughter and her husband teach him from their examples.

Peace :hippie:

You have another typo: "a collage grad". It's spelled "college".
